Please help with my bland bedroom

Hey guys I need help with designing my bedroom. I'm stuck whether to go dark glamorous or monochrome but glamorous. I started painting some of the walls white and I was thinking to paint the wall behind the bed a dark colour, maybe charcoal, change the window dressing to blinds and maybe a light airy curtain. I like neutral and muted colours. I'm really confused how I can achieve a glamorous look but on a budget

Firstly I'd say you defiantly need bedside tables, to accessorise and add some depth of nothing else. Because your furniture is walnut effect (I think) i would keep the walls a light shade of grey and use your soft furnishings to Crete the glamorous look you like. Here's some pictures showing how you can stil achieve a glamorous monochrome look by using soft furnishings. I'd Lao look at the positioning of your furniture. Stay away from light and airy curtains and have thick heavy ones (don't strangle them with tie backs) and get some lamps in a dark colour for your bedside tables

I'm not sure why but it's not letting me add photos look on houzz at monochrome bedrooms with light walls and you will see what I mean

Do you like it cozy modern ? Or just plain modern ?. The bedding looks great if your Into these colours I suggest trying to add more vibrant colors. Orange, gold, silver. You could try replacing the brown cabinet to a white table in the corner near your bed, add more metallic accessories and decor. I was thinking of putting some decor on top of your bed, how about this?. & if you wanted to make it more spacey I suggest putting a couple of mirrors. :) sorry for a lot of babbling though. xx

At the risk of contradicting previous advice, warm colours suit a dark and north facing room much better. If you are set on blue, then I would go with a rich dark blue - Stiffkey has been mentioned and it is an awesome shade. You could then do the paintwork to co-ordinate with the wardrobes to tie them in, and use patterned or textured soft furnishings as a bridge between the two colours. Embracing the fact that the room is dark rather than fighting it gives you the chance to make it a cosy nest, with plenty of texture to break up big blocks of colour and make it even more warm. A blackout blind and soft full patterned drapes will get around the radiator under the window issue and add more interest. I see you have metallic lamps - more metallics and and clever use of mirrors will help reflect any light you do have in the day, and your low level lamps will help make it warm and intimate at night with reading light as a bonus. Thanks Carolina..love the way you've used the photo..very impressive . So many ideas to look at and I think I have a mirror exactly like that somewhere. Lovely bedside tables too..thanks so much. Minnie great colours ..I like those patterns and fabrics a lot. Ive been thinking about a bed end stool..will keep an eye out for one. The shade is new and so much bigger than I thought it would be..should have measured. I kind of like the bohemian look of it to be honest ..thanks so much .

Hi, If you are keeping the carpet I would look at painting the walls a light grey and possibly add a feature wall using wallpaper, if you like in a darker shade and then accentuate the purple through deep purple accessories and add another colour of your choice, again through accessories to add another dimension to the room. You could choose from an array of colours as Grey is a neutral colour which pairs well with many colours whilst purple is also quite forgiving and looks good with greens, oranges, pinks, yellows (sometimes) and even lighter shades of blues. Thanks Natalie, I agree my bedroom needs bed side tables to give it symmetry I would like mirrored ones. I like the idea of grey on the walls too

If get some grey bedding too and a heavy throw and scatter cushions.
