Concrete flooring inside/outside

I'm thinking of using a concrete floor in the kitchen/diner of my new
build. I like the look, but the other main driver is low cost (I haven't
done the maths yet, but am assuming cheaper than all but the cheapest
tiles?). Presumably I can have concrete continued to the outdoor area
that leads off the kitchen through sliding doors? It's just that I've
never seen it done, so was wondering why not have a concrete outdoor
area? Outdoor areas always seem to be made of tiles of some description
or wood. Would really appreciate anybody's experience/advice.
