Help making our dark narrow hallway more "finished"
Comments (8)Hi There, Lighting is so important so it would be a great idea to consider using table lamps in different corners if you have available plug sockets. Mirrored or glass lighting as pendant shades would also give off more light and reflection to brighten up your hallway. I would also consider your colour palette. As Tom suggested a bright White or light colour and painting the woodwork would lift the whole space. You could also add some metallic, silver, gold and glass accessories to brighten up the hallway. Comments (7)Thanks thanks for your advice. I like the idea of wallpaper and a mirror. I recently bought a large mirror from a flea market that I want to use in the hall. I have to keep the bench and also an old bureau which has open shelves in the bottom originally meant for books but now adapted for shoe storage. The hall is only 126cm wide by about 4m long with only a tiny window in the door which we cannot afford to replace. I don't know if it would look odd with one wall only in wallpaper. At the moment it is painted in F & B Farrows Cream which I am fed up with now! I intend to paint the Bench and bureau - what colours would you suggest for walls, wood and the furniture. Any help appreciated. wallpaper I was thinking of using too busy? http://www.wallpaperdirect.com/products/sandberg/waldemar-neutral/122205...See MoreHelp! Colour for a light & dark hallway & landing
Comments (0)Some more help please, this time for hallway, stairs & landing! We have a fairly light but small hallway, a light to dark stairway and a very light landing at one end to very dark at the other. Some advice on carpet and paint colours would be really helpful and how we can make best use of the larger part of the landing. We were thinking of getting a grey woven carpet for stairs & landing (our bedroom has a pale grey carpet and the kids rooms have a cream carpet) but not sure how to make best use of the light & dark areas. Thanks for your help!!...See MoreHelp with paint colour in dark hall
Comments (30)It's a really lovely hall. Loving Carolina's suggestions. Also, do the doors have a threshold that you could temporarily remove and look under (then put back) to see the floor underneath (if you see what I mean)? That way you could find out fairly quickly if you had tiles or wood. @ E D - unfortunately they may do a good product but a web site that comes across as a dodgy spam site doesn't make anyone want to find out. :(...See Moresarah Robson
