Inject colour into a hallway
Comments (8)There are some good images provided here for decorating ideas.. I'm intrigued by the fact that you don't like the stained glass above the door. Here's a thought.... 'double glaze' it from the inside with a single piece of plum coloured glass (or any other colour you fancy). If you really want to go whacky and make a feature of it add some LED strips into the window casing to light the window. From the inside it will appear to glow plum and from the outside it will act like a porch light. What you'll be doing is adding light to the hall which you need, setting the colour scheme that you want, hiding the original window from the hallway and doing something quirky with colour which I think you are up for!...See MoreKitchen colour inspiration
Comments (8)The world is literally your oyster -- you could go for any colour you like! Don't be afraid of strong colours. But one way to take away some of the "whiteness" without going the whole hog is to have the splashback area under the cupboards a stronger colour. That could be either a glass splashback (which you should consider at least behind the cooker), or hard-wearing paint. You could use a stronger colour below the cupboards, and a lighter version on the bigger walls. We used a strong blue here; the under-cupboard lighting made it look a bit lighter:...See Morecolour scheme help for kitchen/diner
Comments (12)I had my kitchen by Howdens and I noticed silly things like cupboards hinged the wrong way or odd sized wall cupboards ie. left had was 450 and right hand was 500. Luckily I'm a designer so picked up on it so I'd advise double checking all sizes and hinges etc. I would definitely start neutral and see how you feel once everything is in. Painting a wall takes no time at all and better to get it right than try do everything at once. I have a blackboard wall in my kitchen, everyone thought I was mad doing a wall in black but it looks very effective and doesn't effect the light at all....See MoreChoosing tile colour for new kitchen
Comments (10)Honeypoppet and Fisher & Paykel, thanks for the suggestion about grey - I did like those samples you attached, looks good! A touch more modern than 'just' beige, which is what I'm after! Jen, you're right, I think once we've narrowed it down a bit, we could get some samples and take them to Ikea, thanks again! :)...See Moreminnie101
