black and white check floor what stair carpet should I get?

Can anyone plz help I have a large old house and restoring it back to it'd original features but I don't no what carpet to have to run up my stairs.I like the tarted carpets and the striped ones but should I just get a plain colour because of the checked flooring.
can anyone plz help!!! cheersx

either get a stripe in the same colours as the floor tile or if you want another colour go plain.

Oh thankyou for that I've been doing my hallway for nearly 2 years and done it all myself so I want to get it right .

hi all, update is I have finally found a photo of someones stairs done in Brintons timorous beastie yellow Ruskin butterfly and its made me decide we are definitely 100% going for this as I love it (see attached pics) on stairs and landing... Floor in hall will be oak herringbone parquet, just wall colour to decide and we have bought new tall skirting so colour to paint this also? i have attcahed apic of the hall currently so you can see our front door with stain glass.. As Ive mentioned before the banister and spindles will be replaces with square spindles with an oak top banister and oak end cap - similar to this houzz pic ... So just to deicide on wall colour and new skirting colour... I really like f&b light blue in a hall with oak parquet but I don't feel this will go with the carpet... Kitchen and dining room will be one of the sage shades and lounge Wimborne white and downpipe...

I’m no colour expert, but I feel a stair carpet like your first pic is very neutral and won’t clash. Ive seen rooms that mix cream, grey and beige and they just look lovely. The dark staircase will add another dimension but still quite neutral. Your staircase is so beautiful it really doesn’t need too much of a change, Skimming Stone is a lovely grey/beige. I would get match pots of the colours you like, paint them on A4, or larger, card and try them in various places and see what you think, paint colours can really change depending on aspect and light. If you can get some carpet samples too you can create a mood board so you can really get an idea of the look. The pics below show how lovely grey, beige and black/grey/brown can look together. Something more interesting! There are such a huge array of tiles available that you can have something lovely. As the units and worktop are dark I would go with a light palette. Hexagonal tiles are lovely. If you wanted subway tiles you could lay then in a more interesting way such as herringbone (better with slim subways) or upright, like below
