Small master bedroom makeover
Comments (43)You may want to reconsider keeping curtains as well as the shutters, as they don't keep out all the light, particularly as you said the room is bright & south facing. Especially in the summertime when it gets lighter so much earlier. From someone who's been awake since 5am because of this problem! Note to self: must get round to choosing curtains! Also, F&B cornforth white is very pale. We've used it on the interior of our windows, but I think it would be a little boring if we used it on the walls, too close to white, especially in a room as bright as yours. A friend with very good taste recommended Little Greene's French Greys. It's a lovely warm grey & there are several different tones. Don't be scared of even the darkest one as even that isn't too strong on the walls! Our master bedroom used to be at the south facing front of a 30's house too, but after rebuilding we're now at the back of the house. Although I love looking out over the garden, I do miss that glorious sunshine you get! (Although not at 5 in the morning!). Have fun deciding, and remember you can always repaint if you really hate anything!...See Morecolour dilemma for guestroom
Comments (12)Hi Anne, I so happy you like it. You told me that this bedroom have enough natural light so, the dramatic look would be perfect. I am agree with you, next step star painting the walls, painting furniture, choose the fabrics and the last lights and complements. When you have the essential would be easier to put the right complements. Anyway, about the mirror some advices: 1. Try to put the on the floor, don't worry it is not big enough maybe the result is good. You can put the existent mirror and then in front of it put another smaller. 2. Look the picture on the right hand, if you find an antic baul or box, put it with the mirror on. 3. If you don't like the option of the mirror on the floor, put them on the console (like in the picture) with more mirrors or frames and in the other side of the bed you can put the floor lamp, a stool with antic books, plant and boxes on the floor. 4. Another idea, remove the cello and put it near console (cello-console-bed) I hope you have space for this. And the armchair in the corner where the cello was with the mirror on the floor. Put in front of it another small like I told you before. These are just ideas, I think when you start with the decoration, it will be easier. If you need help when you are running with the work, contact me. And also, send some pictures with the result :)...See MoreCream Crushed Velvet Bed
Comments (3)Pretty !!! I think i'd put a wooden floor with that. If you're luck enough to have floorboards, then why not finish them with Fiddes Hard Wax Oil in Dark Oak. I've attached a picture of a floor that we did a couple of weeks ago. You could then combine it with Champagne coloured rugs to match the headboard. So many other colours will go with that, Raspberry, Purples, Oranges, Turquoise, Greens........you could put any accent colour by way of bedding with it. You could go with the colour on the covers - duvet etc, or just pillows with plain bedding and maybe lamps to match. Sometimes less is more if you know what i mean! I like to use mix and match textures, so as you already have velvet, why not have a wool blanket across the bottom of the bed. The wool isn't shiny so works well to not go into competition with the sheen from the velvet....See MoreDoes anyone know what the fabric or material?
Comments (3)I've had a look about for you, have found several mirrored headboards, but not one like this. Where did you find the photo? I imagine it's custom made. If you can find material that you like, we can work out how much it would be to make one for you if you can't find something you like x...See MoreTani H-S
