Our new polished concrete floor
Comments (6)I am living with in NZ and tried all our stores for polished concrete cleaner Only come up with one Selleys product with neutral Ph Washed the floor again with than and used a window wiper to dry it Better but not so good as b4 Buying a floor polisher as it comes right if you polish it furiously with your socks . Maybe it's because I chose the high gloss version The sealer is impregnated into the concrete as its polished ..it took 3 days to do and cost a lot! Thanks for you comments...See Morepolished concrete floors
Comments (1)hi Martinafoss polished concrete doesn't actually have any polish in it. it's process where the concrete screed is ground down and smoothed to give a polished appearance. it's a beautiful surface but really needs to be done by a specialist to get it right. it can be used outside, but you just need to make sure it's left with a bit of grip on the finish as it can get slippery when wet. the only downside to this, however is that the more open texture can attract moss but a good clean every now and again will sort this. make sure you include movement joints as large areas will crack due to settlement and thermal movement...See MorePolished concrete floor companies?
Comments (10)Hi Tamsinwc, No problem, will get some photos posted - completely forgot about this thread. Difficult question about what to go for. In terms of what we have (polished concrete 8mm depth): Pros: - Looks great - works really well with underfloor heating - easy to clean Cons: - Has started to get some cracks in it with the movement of the house. - Unforgiving on my 1 year old's head! - Unforgiving on my 5 year old's head! - Shows up every bit of dirt. - Can chip if something hard is dropped on it. My wife really likes it and I do as well though in terms of practicality with 2 youngsters, possibly not ideal. Resin looks good if you can stomach the cost and can look very similar to polished concrete though is meant to be a lot nicer underfoot with none of the cracking issues etc. Micro-cement sounded good but we just didn't like the trowel marks you get with it. Will post some photos of our floor....See MorePolished concrete floor
Comments (1)Polished concrete floors, as the name suggests, are effectively poured concrete floors. Concrete that has been treated with a chemical densifier and ground to create a smooth polished surface. Stains and dyes can be applied to enhance polished concrete, giving it a wide aesthetic appeal in addition to a functional one. such floors will last a life time and are relatively easy to maintain and repair. Epoxy floors are made of epoxy resin that again is poured onto the existing screed and once cured are hard wearing and come in a variety of different colours and designs. Epoxy floors are somewhat more technical with better temperature and chemical resistance and are often used in commercial or industrial applications. in both cases you will need a team of professional installers that will also be able to guide you toward the best product for your home....See Morebenburnett
