which wall colour should I choose?
Comments (3)From what I can see in the photographs your room is rather compact. You may find the dark shade of grape rather heavy if used on all the walls. However, it could be very effective if used on one wall (called a feature wall). If you have not bought the curtains yet consider fabric that has a pattern similar to your cushions and includes the grape/purple colour - take one of the cushions or the cover with you when choosing the curtains it will help you find the right colour match. You may also need to change your rug - difficult to see from the photo but the colours will not match if changing it go for a large rug cream background with perhaps a purple swirl of colour. Try a google image search - the picture attached came up in ebay - but there are many more designs available on the high street....See MoreNeed help with feature wall in kitchen
Comments (42)Wow, you have done a great job already with your kitchen. You have had so many great ideas re. the wall there isn't anything on that I could add. To solve the problem of the chairs hitting the wall I would either opt for a huge floor to ceiling mirror which would encourage one and all to be careful when leaving their seat or my preferred option would be to replace the chairs on that side with a bench. I'd cover the bench in either shabby chic cushions or a deer or sheepskin rug for comfort and I'd play with table decor. Get chair covers for the redundant chairs and use them in the bedrooms - one in each corner. Then for formal dinner parties or for when the table is extended you simply remove the covers and add them to the table and you can still use the bench if the table is extended....See MoreUnsure which walls to feature in my unsymmetrical living room :-(
Comments (13)Thank you guys for suggestions - I like the idea of coloured blinds in the windows Pat Oliver designs - trouble is, we are quite close to the road hence why we chose in the end the wooden Venetian blinds for privacy - although with the wall colour they make everything look orange (the colour on walls is "hot sand" by homebase but is more orangy than I had hoped :-( Its very hard to know what colour to paint the room with the biscuit carpet, and natural wood...I can't really change too much as we don't have a budget. I was hoping to get the look and definition I wanted by paint/paper...but might speak to my hubby to see if we could get some more shelving. Minnie - yes good idea about putting back a little of the wall - I was thinking the same myself - although there is only one door to the room and it is smack bang in the middle on opposite wall which makes things more complicated. :-( I imagine it would be expensive though as you say. I have been trying to find pics of rooms with 2 chimney breasts myself so if you do find some, please can you post them for me as I would love to see them. Thank you both again for your comments xx...See MoreNeed help with painting a feature wall
Comments (2)Paint the Wall completely white first. When it is completely dry ( a few days ), buy some LOW tac decorators tape and mask off the edges of where you want the grey and then paint the grey. Grey at the top sounds good, it will define the ceiling / wall areas....See Moremac2007
