radiator/furniture placement issue
Comments (2)Yes its very hard to keep it clutter-free, especially when you dont have much storage stuff in the flat, for that reason its hard for me to get rid of it tbh. But I might get rid of the far left column of the unit, it may fit better in the front room. If im not happy with it I'll dump it! I think I would attach the TV to the wall right in the middle where the fireplace used to be....See MoreRadiator placement: should it be under the window or on opposing wall?
Comments (12)Hi Elan, the old way of thinking is that radiators would be ideally placed under windows to take advantage of the natural convection that the draught from the window would create and because the window is already a wasted space in design terms anyway. However, as many others here have said, with the advent of double and now triple glazed windows, the effects of draughts is minimal. I see that you have positioned it under the window anyway and we would recommend this in most instances as you are less likely to block the heat with furniture and it is more likely to heat your room efficiently if it is placed under a window. Just bear in mind that long curtains draped over the top will be incredibly inefficient practice - as you would lose heat through your window (double glazed or not) and remember that if you are using Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) with your radiator, be sure that you turn them up gradually as this will help to adequately heat your room and be more efficient in the long run. Turning them right up to the top will not heat your room quicker, as that depends upon the quality of your boiler and the quality of your radiator itself. Comments (5)Our experts would agree. We're an interior window designers and have loads of year's experience. In this instance, Roman blinds & matching curtains would work well in this instance. Before you decide, Style Studio offers a complimentary digital visualization tool which can be accessed using the links below. You can try out Style Studio's full range of roman blinds & curtains on whatever room set closely matches your own. This will help you realise a rooms full potential before having to go out and make what can often be an expensive purhcase. Comments (10)"If you've already installed them, what are you going to do?" Nothing, because I love them! I thought it would be interesting to show that there is more out there apart from the ubiquitous industrial column radiator As regards other artwork, we are not planning on putting much else on the walls apart from one tall slim picture on another wall which reflects the same shape. But there is still a table and a couple of sofas to go into the space. Thanks for your comments - It would be boring if we all liked the same thing....See MoreJuliet Docherty
