Any info on the beauty?

So, office coming along fine, have redesigned the dining room - top picture... All very well. Then I went hunting again and I came across the most unusual item - I'm easily impressed anyway. Does anyone know anything about that sideboard.

Hello! I don't have any info on the sideboard I'm afraid, but it looks quite similar to a bureau we have at my office. It belonged to my boss and was extradited to the office because his family hated it. I absolutely love it and hope I can steal it/be given it one day!

Would love to know some more info too. They look quite gothic.

Hello asart Ltd, Oooh sounds really nice... What I would say is go for something that is quite dramatic.. With ceilings so high, you can afford to have something a little more opulent, that goes both up the wall and into the ceiling area.. Other details might give you an idea as to the feel of things.. such as staircases, doors... or skirting if there is any left! Might sound odd but often the grandeur of the place can be detected from other aspects.. So go on and have a poke around! Stevensons of Norwich are to my mind one of the best and given that you are from the area they are right on your doorstep!! ... They have an excellent range of plaster cornices and roses to suit the more austere and opulent interior equally.... For ceiling colours... I would go for Whitening by Little Greene. It's the most wonderful chalky creamy colour that is superb.... It's also a fantastic colour for the panel in between the picture rail and the cornice... If you are going for that look... Of course you could add colour there, in line with the wall coverings... Incidentally even if you have a contemporary interior... You can still choose really wonderful period finishes... They will add something. So don't choose based solely on what the furnishings might be.. The wood work either a chalky white or something a little more daring do.... : ))

when my mother in law passed away we ended up with a highly carved wooden chest with matching side tables, they had bought it when my father in law was serving in Singapore. She loved and polished this furniture all of her married life. I hate it but feel I can't get rid of something that was so cherished. it is currently taking up lots of room in our spare bedroom.

Unfortunately The Ikea planner doesn't show you the vaulted ceiling and that will make the room feel tall and narrow - by adding tall cabinetry on both sides you are accentuating that ... the software I design on allows me to put together a truer rendition of the room - with the ceilings vaulted etc to start with - and gives you a much clearer and image of the final result ... for that service on a room this size we are taking about the same price as a good dishwasher ... on the whole it's a small part of your overall spend - but allows you to shop around and compare like for like - negotiate deals and basically stay in control of your project ( as I work with you on the layout - suggesting and taking on board your ideas and wishes too ). I work independently and don't sell product. So you are then free to use the plans and get quotes, which are easier to compare, and then buy from where you like. The other way is the more traditional route of asking a few different companies to come over, survey, design, propose and go through their design and prices . But you should get a few quotes - so this may take quite a bit of time !

Hi, Origin have put together a handy comparison table, looking at the difference between Bi-Folds and Sliding Doors, and the strengths and weaknesses. Hope this helps :) http://bit.ly/bifold-doors-vs-sliding-doors I would strongly recommend Bi-fold doors, I have them myself, they're so easy to use and look really smart. Never knew how amazing it would be to open a room into the garden until they were installed and they're an absolute godsend in the heatwave we're having!
