Every little girl is different... but having noted she likes to design things and dress up, then I have used the imagination as a focus.. So I though whimsy and imagination and make believe.. I think I was still into the idea of adventure when I was 12... So there are a lot of ways you could go..
Wallpaper, big furnishings like the bed, light fittings that create wonderful reflections.. I do love the canopy on the first image and you can easily do that, it looks like a wooden hand rail fixed to the ceiling with fabric draped over to create a canopy.. The good thing about that is you can change styles to suit the mood with that and the bedding.. I'm thinking of Safari (browns, golds and woods would really work here).. Wooden or papier mache animal heads and the spirit of adventure..I loved natural history and still do..
Think perhaps the idea of imagination never really leaves us.. Of course I could be all wrong with this line of thought..I still rely on mine heavily as a creative tool.. Maybe she likes something entirely different.. The top image has quite a strong paper but you could have plainer walls or something that suits your daughter and what her likes and loves are.. I like the idea of creating a rich environment that fuels the ideas, variety of interest and imaginations of a child... The room can evolve over the changing youth from child to teenager and beyond.... .. :))

Hi sawsankhan. Because your daughter is 12, she won't be a child any more, really soon. So I think, what you need to do is to create a neutral room base. Paint walls grey/of white colour, choose furniture that would look good in both child's and teenager's room. And have fun with accessories. Hang interesting shelves, fanny posters, add cushions and rug. You can change them easily in few years, when your daughter will need more mature space. Another idea is to glue gold and black stickers on one wall. I've made the same in my daughter's room. They looks great! I would go for the light blue or turquoise on the walls rather than the navy because of the small room. I hope the ABA works well for you. Comments (6)Hi, Many thanks for all your replies. Yes my daughter is six turning 7 this year so lots of wardrobe space will be needed. She has 3 wardrobes now but it’s shared with her sister so two wardrobes would defiantly be needed. Thanks for the update on the Ikea bed, Its a strong possibility that could work. I have been looking at similar options but not as cost effective and I didn’t think of Ikea . I wanted my daughters next bed purchase to follow her though to her teenage years, and I was thinking of either a trundle bed similar to the Ikea bed or a 3/4 bed - but I am limited on space so I am not to sure a 3/4 bed would work. Comments (5)Just wondering if budget allows as she’s now 14yrs whether new bed would work in place of high sleeper, my 11yr old had the same as your daughter and I ended up buying her a new bed and lots of storage, she outgrew climbing the ladder each night and though they work for little ones the storage shelves in it don’t actually hold that much. 8 years agoMy little niece is 12....and trying to be as grown up as she can...but they still do have the need for space where they can be 'little' every once in a while....one of my favourite ways to incorporate that element is a comfy chair or beanbag and maybe a huge blackboard somewhere where she can let her creativity shine. As to the other decor....I've attached some pics of 'tweenage' ideas.
