Paint colour to match red batik Topps tiles

Can anyone recommend a red paint colour to match my batik red tiles from Topps Tiles please? I have tried a number of samples but nothing seems to compliment it. Dulux and B&Q can't do a colour match on their scanner as this is a patterned tile.

Am I right in saying the tiles in my photo are the ones you're asking about? (Image 1)

If so, is the red paint you're looking for to paint the whole room? If it is I'd discourage the use of red paint unless used for a feature wall as it can have a harsh effect on the room; making it appear smaller and dark.

However, depending on the size of the room, I'd suggest from Rectory Red (Image 2) by Farrow and Ball as a feature wall paint. It's an earthy red and its use would compliment the tiles, it's the closest match I could find, you could then keep other walls crisp white and dot around red accents, thus colour mixing and balancing the room.

Although, if you're definitely wanting to paint all walls I'd suggest a washed out brown (image 3) this is Eating Room Red by Farrow and Ball, it isn't too 'red' as though to darken the room, however it does have red undertones and will therefore compliment your choice of tile whilst not making the room appear small and cramped.

I recently used Valspar paints, take a tile to the counter and they'll colour-match. Call them first to see if they can overcome the pattern issue. As a last ditch effort ask topps tiles to give you the hex colour code..

If you are brave enough, do all the walls! It will give the room a cosy, cocooning feel. If not, do the fireplace wall the dark green (left or the middle colour) and the rest of the walls a very pale green with a bit of yellow. Having two tones of green will be more a soothing effect than stark white against the strong green, and interestingly, most won't notice. If the Little Greene colour was either Tea with Florence/Goblin/Harley Green it would suit the 1930's vibe perfectly, and Green Stone - light would be a good pairing.

Tackling the problem differently might be the better option. The wall's magnolia and the mosaic tiles are red and the bottom tiles are white and my guess is the floor is also a different colour. Rather than being transfixed on the tiles in this particular corner, I suggest you look at all the white space first. I have the impression that there's a blank canvas that needs to be finished to fit in with the tiles. The wallpaper has the same colour as lining paper and I wouldn't be surprised if it was. Unfortunately the holiday sales have finished. But, wallpaper samples are free. Look in the wallpaper section under kitchens and pick samples with red in the pattern. Get the shade of red as close as possible to the tiles but with patterns. Get samples with sage if you must but as long as there's the same shade of red. This usually takes time, but with the help of the internet there's hope. I'd also find the mosaic tile supplier to get a sample of the mosaic tile for reference. I hope this helps.

Tricky one - colour is incredibly fickle, especially when you compare different surface finishes (the PVC compared to chalky F&B) and in the unique light of a particular room, with all the other colours & surfaces in play. Personally I like the colour you now have, and might wait until I had painted walls - just doing this may get the space feeling closer to the colourway you envisioned. Different tiles to the reds & terracottas would also transform the look and allow the green to shine through. If you do take up the (very generous & honourable) offer of the sprayer, then be sure that the revised colour is going to tick your boxes. As others have said, a good few 5 star reviews around the web would be in order for a company offering good customer service like that! Oh, and the brass handles look great - you might also consider the American brass & American copper finishes from Croft & Assinder!!

Hi Meredith. Yes it is just to paint on the one wall and just between bottom and wall units so not much. The rest of the kitchen is currently Magnolia and I have natural oak cabinets with dark brown worktop and light stone floor so I think the red batik above hob with red paint would look better than the multicolour batik option which looks good with white. Although ideas welcome.

Thanks for your recommendation. Have you seen the tiles in the flesh or just seen the tiles online? Jacky
