Paint colour to match red batik Topps tiles
Comments (4)Hi Jacky1h, Am I right in saying the tiles in my photo are the ones you're asking about? (Image 1) If so, is the red paint you're looking for to paint the whole room? If it is I'd discourage the use of red paint unless used for a feature wall as it can have a harsh effect on the room; making it appear smaller and dark. However, depending on the size of the room, I'd suggest from Rectory Red (Image 2) by Farrow and Ball as a feature wall paint. It's an earthy red and its use would compliment the tiles, it's the closest match I could find, you could then keep other walls crisp white and dot around red accents, thus colour mixing and balancing the room. Although, if you're definitely wanting to paint all walls I'd suggest a washed out brown (image 3) this is Eating Room Red by Farrow and Ball, it isn't too 'red' as though to darken the room, however it does have red undertones and will therefore compliment your choice of tile whilst not making the room appear small and cramped. Hope this helps. Meredith...See MoreNeed help with wall tiles please
Comments (16)I agree the mirror splashback looks beautiful but you will be forever polishing it, especially behind the sink as it will be constantly splashed. I have a stainless steel microwave near the sink and the watermarks really bug me! If it was me I'd go for white subway tiles as you've suggested and then use colour through your paint choice in the rest of the room. You could also add colour through a nice pot plant or piece of wall art. Paint is much easier to change later then if you get bored. We redid our kitchen last year and chose a bold paint which I'm already bored with. Luckily it'll be relatively inexpensive and straight forward to change....See MoreCottage kitchen dilemma: Red quarry tiles & exposed stone
Comments (11)I would think about how to make best use of earthy materials, I'm not convinced the strong blue is the right thing. Is it possible to post lots of picture that show different views of the room? I agree about pale worktops, essential for reflecting light. The other thing to consider is that the floor tiles are quite a strong colour and therefore I wouldn't put too strong a blue in there, rather a duller dark blue/black or softer warm greys. The bottom image with warm greys and small amounts of dark blue/black is lovely. I like Sonia's images, they feel right for the materials you are working with. Here are some more....See MoreNew project! What colour goes with red stairs??
Comments (38)Hi there, Congratulations on your new home! It sounds like you have a lot of exciting projects ahead of you. I think you're right that the red carpet is a bit of a challenge, but I think it's definitely possible to make it look modern and stylish. Here are a few ideas: Paint the walls a dark grey or a very dark colour that will contact red. This will help to ground the red carpet and make it look more sophisticated. Paint the handrails a dark grey or black as well. This will create a cohesive look and make the space feel more modern. Add some pops of colour with artwork, accessories, and furniture. This will help to offset the boldness of the red carpet and create a more visually interesting space. If you're feeling really ambitious, you could even replace the carpet with a more modern option. But if you're on a budget, I think painting the walls and handrails is a great way to update the space without having to spend a lot of money. Here are a few specific colors that I think would work well with the red carpet: Dark grey: This is a classic choice that will never go out of style. It's also a good option if you want to create a more dramatic look. Black: This is a bolder choice, but it can be very chic if done right. (Main wall) Charcoal grey: This is a more muted grey that is still stylish and modern. Navy blue: This is a great our colour lif you want to add a touch of colour lnto the space. Teal: This is another colourful option that would look great with the red carpet. I hope these ideas help...See Moreminnie101
