Most important asset a pro can have?
Comments (7)Hello Emmeline, I think a professional should be adaptable, able to intuit and interpret the clients needs and that of their home or space worked on. Having a range of skills is obviously as important as is their particular skill set. Respect and trust goes both ways. Whether you're a whole turnkey service or not.. That doesn't matter.. All that matters is that all the parties involved in the project are working together with full information, budgets, requirements and respect for each other and the client. Now a little note on newer pro's and companies.. For companies or Pro's that are "new" emerging etc etc as nobody talks about this in a positive light from what I have read here.. Years of experience and so forth are nothing if there's no skill.. There are plenty of new companies that A don't have years of experience B masses of clients etc etc.. but as with any company or professional that has say 10-15 years experience or more.. I'd be looking less at the longevity, "experience" and more at their skill, flair and how they carry themselves.. It's no good being told someone has 20 years experience if they're terrible at what they do.. As with every pro or company everyone was new at some point. I had recently been told by someone gleefully he had 15 years experience in his trade... His work was the worst I have ever seen! For me... Skill, creativity, kindness and flair! : ))...See MoreWhat's the most important thing a garden should have?
Comments (35)Trees, plants, vegetables and wildlife. Luckily I have an enormous garden, which includes a hedgehog, lots of slow-worms, frogs and toads, and under the eaves of the house roof live scores of house sparrows, while the old field hedge to the south provides hospitality for many bumblebees, blackbirds etc - even a wren. Under the lawns hide lovely, silky miner-bees... There are two compost heaps and I spend a lot of time bringing home cuttings and then nursing them into life. Of course the garden is masses of work each year and I am 69, but this is as close to living on planet earth as you can get in today's crazy world. There is no silly internet-of-things in my garden; and apart from sunlight, moonlight and the odd flash of lightning, it only sees the occasional use of a torch or led headlight. I guess some of the worst things that can spoil your garden is a nearby stinking barbecue or neighbours who burn stuff in black polythene bags; (or hire a sound system for their birthday) or the unsustainable racket of a MOD fighter jet or helicopter beating the air! Along with someone to love and care for, a garden is one of the most precious things you can have and enjoy!...See MoreWhat bedroom theme do your kids have & what features work best?
Comments (5)thankyou. im really pleased with how window seat turned out, i'll be up there with a book and coffee on my day off. :-) Carpet is going to be same throughout all house keep cost down. thick and grey/ silver. when budget gets replenished she wants a bunk bed with desk and seat bed underneath for friends. personally I don't think she will want a bunk bed for long. Getting her to keep room tidy is going to be a nightmare. Paper.......everywhere. notes, drawings etc etc....See MoreChoice of big bathroom, 3 bedrooms or tiny bathroom, 4 bedrooms.
Comments (13)If you intend staying here for a decade then you should make this house work for you and not the next people. I think that since you have already flagged extending in 10 years you should also future proof your plans now. If it were me I would have a bedroom where the current big bathroom is in order to give you the possibility of later extending over the ground floor extension. I would also want a super sized bathroom for my use - I have always believe the person paying the mortgage should have a better bathroom than people who visit three times a year. And I would take the view that when a loft bedroom is later added it won’t matter if one of the four bedrooms is compact. So I offer an alternative....See MoreSecret Linen Store
