What shade of exterior paint will go best with anthracite doors and wi

We have had anthracite bi folds windows etc and have had out extension rendered. We are going to have the front rendered but at the moment we only have an anthracite grey door, anthracite pacers and white windows

I was going to go for white paint but I think I may regret it. So I'm thinking a light grey but just wanted to know people's opinions or if someone out there has anthracite windows and have just used a light grey paint which works well.

I can upload some photos but I'm sure most people will know what anthracite grey looks like (it's a dark slate grey)

Ps what brand ie dulux , crown re the exterior paint. I was going to give the first few coats in white and then the final colour in a soft grey.

Is there a colour used a lot locally? Perhaps also your choice might be affected by the roof colour

Thanks all! Definitely some food for thought... will look better at keeping the stone work at the front a sort of stoney colour with dark woodwork (hadn't even considered it but seems obvious now it's been pointed out so thanks fellow houzzers!).. the comments on it being up and coming aren't far off... ish... the area is really nice but it's a busy road which knocks it down.. it's a row of about 8 terraces within which there's 2 businesses... two houses.. one b and b and the rest flats.. understandable but a shame as it'll be a while before they realise their potential! thanks for the kind comments with the interior.. a couple more snaps below but we're only a 3rd of the way through the house... and even the done rooms aren't properly done - art to put up.. styling to do.. tweaks to furniture etc.. and these are just quick snaps with the phone.. but hopefully these couple of snaps give a flavour of what we're going for.. took it on as a proper wreck!!

Minipie, this is a tricky one. The greeney grey would look lovely with your yellow brick or even a more yellowed grey, there are lots of houses where I live with yellow brick and ones with warm grey pale windows look lovely. I recently replaced all of mine and had the same colour inside and out. I went for a warm green grey (F&B Light Grey 17) and the same inside. As most of my neutrals inside are from the same 'hue' family it was ok, but if they had been 'bluer' as you say it could have been tricky. If the tones are the same (how light or dark) and the colours mismatched it is very noticeable. If the colours are different then the tones need to be a bit different too. I would be inclined to make a selection that works with your inside colours first and then actually paint the samples on the outside to see if they work.

Thank you all so much for your comments, this has been incredibly helpful! It’s an Edwardian house T Grey, built in 1907. I think the windows will stay white at least for now, but it would be a good opportunity to repaint the fascias as they are peeling and need some TLC. The fence is going to be replaced and, so could definitely paint that to tie it in with the scheme. It’s not clear from the original pic, but the front path is terracotta and dark grey tiles, so I think that’s how I ended up with the idea of dark grey on the woodwork/front door, but am interested about the strong suggestion of green, so I will have a good look at this. Hi Katie, have decided to go with white! I was originally concerned that they would look too plastic but having seen the aluminium i do think they look good. So white it’s going to be. I figured that white windows have been around forever and therefore don’t believe it will ‘date’ like anthracite is probably going to do - although I do like anthracite too. Just hope that I’m happy with the decision once they have been installed! Good luck with your decision!

Nothing locally , have seen two elsewhere white are just white and then an off white cream but I was thinking about a soft grey as I think white will be too stark and so look dirty ... Where as soft grey I feel will look and wear better but I may be wrong!
Can anyone recommend any brands? There always seems to be lots on the market!

Hi I am interested in this topic - fingers crossed coming to the end of the kitchen/side return project and need to render the rear of the property too. Our doors will also be anthracite grey. Neighbours seem to use white paint on the bottom half of the properties but it looks very harsh. What colour did you decide on and any chance of some photos of the finished look? thks
