I've trying to solve this riddle... How and from where do I keep the tv from getting wet? From where or how do I make a box that could take my 22 inch LED?

Hi, thanks for your enquiry. It is not safe to install a normal television in the bathroom. This is a special bathroom splash television. It is designed to be tiled up to and has no buttons on it. It works via remote control. Hope this helps, Sue

Hello Isidora – I see your post was a while ago but I would like to offer a few thoughts about this important issue. As you suggest storage needs to be thought about and planned for - I see others have made some interesting contributions. I see support for open clothes rails, built in and other thought provoking arrangements. This looks to be a semi detached property - is that correct? If so then I wouldn't recommend changing anything dramatically from the neighbours as it'll visually unbalance your half and generally detract from the overall appearance. Just add some planters either side of the front door to soften it off.

Not sure how it works in the UK but in France if you are changing the appearance of your house that is visible from the road, you need prior permission. This is to avoid people doing things that are completely out of keeping with the neighbourhood, whether rendering, paintwork, or windows. Here you would probably have to go with cream rendering and retain the tiling, in which case choose a colour for the front door that picks up or contrasts with the brick/rust colour. My own first priority for the outside would be to deal with the garden, which you are very lucky to have, to get things in before the winter. One idea would be to get rid of the tiny patch of grass and lay thick gravel (not attractive to cats) plus a retaining path, create a simple structure to hide your dustbins (and bikes?), and invest in a couple of huge pots with some permanent planting and spring bulbs.

what is the level of insulation provided by glazings and new walls? especially glazing, to avoid dispersions... ideally radiators should be close to the cold points (glazing, again) to balance the environment and shield the incoming cold. The corner with the table seems the best option, if I translate this plan into a finished space. Other factors: Curtains can help. Solar gain (exposure) can help. A dark paving outside can help (absorbs sunlight and releases heats slowly). I often say it's better to consult an architect in advance, dear, because of matters like this that get pointed out during the design... But do not desperate, just make sure the insulation is good and the glazings are good too!
