decking all the way

I absolutely love the seamless look of the decking going all the way up to the swimming pool.
However, I visited two swimming pool companies which gave me completely different advice I this regard, leaving me rather confused!
One said that it was fine to have the decking going up to the pool, whilst the other advised against it and said that it would be better to tile the area immediately around the pool, then have the decking.
Please advise which would be the best option in the long run.
