Blues/Greys/Creams - How do I get a modern yet warm balance?

Hello, we're moving into our new house in a few weeks and I don't feel 100% certain what way I want to decorate. I definitely want powder blue as my main colour to go along with greys but I really want a warm room too and not cold! The furniture I want is white gloss so I want to make sure my furnishings are soft. Can you help please? What do you recommend for walls? The white glossy IKEA tv unit will be similar to this below. Perhaps a dark grey on that wall? Thank you!

A few splashes of muted yellows look good. Here's a few more pictures of that colour combo, plus an alternative maybe of plum or coral?

Hi grace. Sorry can you clarify, is the powder blue going on the walls if that's your main colour? In terms of warming it up you could try oranges, coral or yellowy greens

I think pale blues go well with natural wood colours such as oak or pine, maybe on the floor under that lovely rug. And a dark blue/purple/grey (Dulux Midnight Iris 1 maybe) would certainly set off the white gloss units, the touch of red in a purply grey can add a touch of warmth, but do make sure the 2 colours are similar so they don't clash. Echo the glossy finish in a couple of other items in the room, such as picture frames, a lamp, a vase, fire surround and mirror.

Nice! I like Groningen, have some great friends from there. I bought my kitchen from keuken kampioen. So I don't give it a bad name. . . since my original post, customer service has really gone out of their way to see if there is something they could do. The cabinet shape I chose is in the example on the front page. Of course mine are magnolia and not white. I have polished pebble too :) we have it in the living room with navy and our spare room too. I do find it quite a cool colour though and worried that it might not be very warm/welcoming in the hall as it's a very dark area. I've tried out some colours this morning Left - aged parchment Top middle - carriage door Bottom middle - elephants breath Top right - perfect oyster Bottom right - polished pebble I love elephants breath but worried it's a bit brown.... and not sure if the others are too cool. I've added some better pics of the hallway in case anyone has any thoughts....

@tamp75 - yes I have agonised for a long time over what type of window dressing to use. Hence we have been living with nothing for a while. But we have family from overseas visiting in 2 weeks so really need to start making decisions. The window is really wide - almost the full width of the room. But as you say not particularly tall. Moving the radiator wasn't an option unfortunately - we did consider it. We just didn't have the funds to do that. The other option is short curtains which I know don't look as good but I'm not sure what other choices we have. We need the material to keep in the heat in winter.

Its a good room to work with, you would be amazed by changing the cushions, to a mix of patterns and textures (velvets are great) Coral/terracotta shades are very 'now' or try to pick up the colours in the print you have above the TV, is it a coraly pink? it may warm up the room significantly. I think all the yellow cushions in the same fabric are dominating and not bringing a warmth to the room. H&M home I think have a good selection as does Home Sense.

Thank you! Minnie, possibly blue on a wall, or all 3 and grey on main wall? I like the idea of a touch of yellow here and there.

Hi Grace. I'm not that keen on the dark grey feature ŵall idea if I'm honest as I just think it will make the unit stand out more and look more stark/contemporary (but that is just on the basis that you want a warm room though and to blend with your rug and cushions!). A couple of options. You could go for a chalky white on the walls and a pale pastel grey on the feature ŵall. Add the powder blue in the curtains. Add a soft off white throw to the sofa and and add a little cream in cushions and accessories etc ( add the other colours too but just so you have a blend of the White and cream). Or you could go for powder blue (I'd go quite pale) on all walls. I would change the rug if you did that though, maybe a soft geometric? Curtains could be a mix of the blue and grey on a creamy background. To add the warmth add lamps and maybe the throw just to lighten the sofa a little. Also add a couple of decorative pieces for the tv unit. If you go for pastels I do personally like a little contrast so maybe a darker shade for picture frames, lamp shade or base etc. pics to follow just for colour ideas. Paint colours are Benjamin Moore constellation and farrow and ball borrowed light

No, I've only bought the white TV unit but I really want the grey sofa too. Must have a look. If it's little splashes of yellow that would be nice

Do these go together? Looking at the pics they don't but maybe on a grey sofa? The happy cushion could be the middle one? I feel like I'm mixing two styles all wrong. Maybe a plain bright yellow cushion behind each blue one? My heads pickled lol

I know what you mean about mixing the styles slightly, but I really think the first 2 cushions in your earlier posting and the 2 latest ones would definitely go. I think it's nice to mix it up a bit, far more interesting!

PS I always go to a big store like The Range or Dunelm and get loads of cushions, then take back the ones I don't like. It's often surprising what does and doesn't 'go'

Ok thank you very much! Maybe couple of yellow cushion, maybe a really bright base with flowers and pale blue / grey walls. The kitchen is white gloss with oak tops so I think it would work if the theme was carried through :)
