What's the most important thing a bedroom should have?
Comments (46)Got to join the herd and go with a good bed. I'd probably also add top quality linen, both reading and bedside lights, a fireplace and a quality window treatment. Access to an amazing en suite bathroom is also beneficial.....not to ask too much....See MoreWhat's the most important thing an entrance should have?
Comments (14)A place to immediately take your dirty boots and wet raincoat off. I've seen lots of entrances designed nicely with a thought of minimalism which had just a closed wardrobe at the opposite corner to hide your closes and shoes in, and there always 've been a problem of a pile of dirty boots near the door or a dirty footprints 'road' between a door and a shoe-washing place and puddles of water from raincoats on the way to the wardrobe. Design should be practical. Entrance is a transition room between dirty street and cozy rooms, so it has to provide smooth transition, giving you things which make your life easier and more comfortable. If it's hard for you to lace your shoes standing, it has to have a seat. If you have a big family, you need a place (it may be just a mat or kind of open shelving) near the door to take all of your shoes off. If it's rainy or snowy where you live you need some spot to let your coats dry a bit before hiding them to the wardrobe and so on. If you use umbrellas, you need a spot to put it once you enter the house... There are lots of other practical things you may need....See MoreWhat's the most important thing a garden should have?
Comments (35)Trees, plants, vegetables and wildlife. Luckily I have an enormous garden, which includes a hedgehog, lots of slow-worms, frogs and toads, and under the eaves of the house roof live scores of house sparrows, while the old field hedge to the south provides hospitality for many bumblebees, blackbirds etc - even a wren. Under the lawns hide lovely, silky miner-bees... There are two compost heaps and I spend a lot of time bringing home cuttings and then nursing them into life. Of course the garden is masses of work each year and I am 69, but this is as close to living on planet earth as you can get in today's crazy world. There is no silly internet-of-things in my garden; and apart from sunlight, moonlight and the odd flash of lightning, it only sees the occasional use of a torch or led headlight. I guess some of the worst things that can spoil your garden is a nearby stinking barbecue or neighbours who burn stuff in black polythene bags; (or hire a sound system for their birthday) or the unsustainable racket of a MOD fighter jet or helicopter beating the air! Along with someone to love and care for, a garden is one of the most precious things you can have and enjoy!...See MoreDisappointed in having to have metal trim around tiled bathroom window
Comments (23)I absolutely hate those trim pieces. When you are spending hundreds or thousands on tile to do a project and then finish it with these trim products it looks cheap and tacky. Plus when you are using a classic or vintage tile those shiny metal pieces or worse the cheap white plastic doesn't match. Just ruins the whole thing. I suspect builders like this kind of trim because it fast and easy to use and covers a multitude of sins. You don't have to be a particularly skilled tiler. Nor do you have to do any special cuts....See MoreAmber Jeavons Ltd
