Comments (7)Will there be something along the wall on the other side in the kitchen? If not why not turn the window into a full opening ( a pretty easy thing to do ) so you'll have potentially even more light and a new flow pattern. Otherwise remove the window and replace it with a sheet of glass in a simple surround - you could have the glass frosted along the bottom half to obscure any view of dirty dishes or cluttered countertops....See Morecottage windows dilemma..

Comments (8)I have a similar design concept going Into my new extension. it's a 3.5mtr door with side window meeting at the corner post. as were going for aluminium also, we spoke to the manufacturers and there also doing the side window in aluminium also which will be the exact height and size of the door. this means there is no difference in proportions or frame sizes and the cill will match in with the whole design. I would suggest speaking with the door manufacturer and see what option they can give. wish I could give you a more technical answer but I leave the details up to my other half as that's his trade....See MorePicture window dilemma
Comments (4)We had the same huge window in our last house and went for full length as they look better. But, if that rad is your only source of heating and you need it full blast then it might be an issue. We had two do it didn’t bother us as we didn’t sit down that end of the room. You could get thermal blinds instead with thick curtains hanging either side just for display and to block off the side drafts? Ie roller blind over the vertical ones even.
