Help choosing tiles for flooring in my new kitchen??
Comments (50)Hi Getty Welty What a shame about the worktop but I think it's almost a blessing in disguise. Once you have settled on the worktop my advice would be to take samples of the cupboards & worktop to a tile shop and look at them altogether. You really need to see a large tile together with the other samples to appreciate the overall look. A 10 x 10 sample is only a representation of the whole tile and the colour changes on a larger scale. We always advise our customers to do that if possible as its really important to make sure the overall tones work well together. Good luck with it all Karen...See MoreMy new kitchen needs a new hob and I am lost as to which fuel to get
Comments (6)If you have a magnet, hold it to the Le Creuset pots. If it sticks to the pot, you can use it on an induction hob. I’ve recently switched from gas to induction. Induction is much quicker and you can let the burner switch off automatically after a set time. And it’s easy to clean. So far the advantages I’ve found. Disadvantages: can’t see the flame, so have to work out what the settings do. I’m taking a long time to get used to that, but then again, I’ve only ever cooked on gas before. Sometimes the pans make an annoying high pitched tone. I had to buy new pans, but my big iron stew pot (not Le Creuset) should work on it. Haven’t used it yet, but it is magnetic. For my other pans I went to IKEA and got a great set with heavy glass lids from there. Very happy with them. Had to say goodbye to one of my big iron frying pans, because the bottom was slightly warped and then it doesn’t work well either. All in all I’m happy with the induction hob. I love the speed. But I think I still prefer gas. Anyway... we have a downdraft in an island, so gas wasn’t an option. But you could do both perhaps? Two gas burners, two induction ones for example?...See MoreMy new kitchen. Dilemma
Comments (16)I like your last design assuming you have left enough space around the island. I would go for a more off centre sink and also lose the drainer so you have more space when serving up, making pastry etc. Not sure what type of hob you're having but are the wall units high enough to meet any statutory requirements? I would prefer the oven at counter level but if you're having a microwave I think this works, I would choose white appliances though so they blend in. Also make sure you have enough room for the fridge door to open properly so you can remove shelves. I'd lay the floor tiles the other way to make the room look wider....See MoreHelp... need colour in my new kitchen!
Comments (19)I love that your husband fitted your kitchen! It looks great. Completely understand not wanting to lose the bright and vibrant Fuchsia, it seems like your home is rather vibrant and fun. My recommendation would be to have one feature wall in the Fuchsia (I would advise the one behind the armchair) as this would keep the fun whilst picking up the accents of your table runner and kitchen accessories. I would then paint the walls by the window a grey to complement the colour used in the kitchen. To compliment your curtains (instead of having to buy new ones) once you have toned down the walls, I would consider adding a throw pillow in a plain lime colour on the armchair to pick up the colour of the curtain. It is a very personal choice, but that would be my recommendation :) I hope it helps!...See MoreMosaic&Glasses
