Help with farrow and ball wall paper and matching paint colours please

I would like some help with my farrow and ball paint and wallpaper choices for my new snug/family room off our kitchen... The kitchen will be vert de terre on the walls with white alabaster oak units, oak worktop, Belfast sink, 110 stainless steel Rangemaster, metro tiles on the wall and Ivory high gloss porcelain floor tiles ... The snug is off this room open plan - I will upload a picture... I have bought a new corner sofa Picture is not very clear but its probably a bit lighter than in picture as taken on my phone I have fallen in LOVE with F&B Wisteria wallpaper in the cinder rose background and I think it matches perfectly with the vert de terre which will be in the kitchen... Im thinking wallpaper back wall behind the long bit of the sofa and facing the chimney where a stove will go and then a lighter shade on the wall adjoining it where the short length of sofa will go... perhaps shaded white? I like elephants breath but I think this maybe too dark and this wall needs to reflect light into the room ... Then onto chimney brest and alcoves... There will be a stove in the opening and a tv on the brest above the stove ... do I also wallpaper the brest or the alcoves or do I apint one of these just in cinder rose or do I use the other 2 shades in the wallpaper!??! Or do I wallpaper the other wall?! decisions decisions...

Here is the sofa I have bought the room floor plan (the snug area is the bottom left area) the corner sofa will go in the bottom left corner with the long but along the left wall -facing the fire and the short bit against the bottom wall (as in the picture) I have also attached a photo of the wall paper against the sofa - but obviously it is no where near to scale!!! Oh also flooring will be oak herringbone parquet and a slate hearth for the stove ... Any Help and advice would be much appreciated - Thankyou!!

I have made a decision.... Hope it is the right one - I've gone for shaded white and moles breath. Have tins here ready to go on today- fingers crossed!!!!

Morning, From what you have said, I would go for James White which has green undertones rather than yellow understones like the White Tie. James White is fine for Exterior Masonary and you will see that option when you purchase. I would then pair that with the French Grey for the front door/woodwork. This is a classic colourway of theres specifically made for outside woodwork. It's the one you see on small pretty cottages. The colours works well with the James White and sits beautifully outside. Any colours with greener undertones will work better outside as they will harmonise better with the other colours from nature and not look so out of place when aging or getting slightly dirty with time. Hello Harriet, Yes I suggest this method of painting at half height, without the addition of beading in the form of dado a lot. I love this and, if you don't have it, you don't need it.. With regards to the height you need to go, it depends on the height of the ceiling in the space considered. So it could be dado height which is roughly the top of the back of a chair but could easily be much higher depending on my next point that compliments Minnie's.. Also depends on whether you want to do the same for picture rail or lack thereof... So you could actually use 3 colours and the top where picture rail would go take this colour up to and over the ceiling.. So there's choice between how many colours.. I also like to include all the woodwork and so again there's a variety of ways.. The same or a shade or two lighter or darker than wall colour.. Take into account the flooring and size of the space as this too will help you decide what and how much.. If you want less contrast work with shades of the same palette, that way you achieve a look with less contrast which you may find easier to deal with.. You can also use the same with the idea of skirting or lack thereof... Pictured.. It's a dark interior but you can see the principle can be applied in a variety of ways.. : ))

Hi Louise, My experience as is that Farrow and Ball eggshell is hard to work with and difficult to get a great finish - difficult to lose the brush marks. Little Greene oil eggshell is fantastic, levels really well and dries quickly with decent coverage. They also do a really nice Grey colour card too. If you are set on Farrow and Ball colours then Johnstones do an exact match as they use the same mixing machine so the colours are spot on... much better quality paint and cheaper too. The traditional oil eggshell is great and the aqua system is lovely to work with if you want the convenience of a quicker drying time. Dulux can only match to the nearest colour that they do, so don't bother even trying to match F&B... I'm not a pro by any means, but have lots of experience... a professional painter will be able to work wonders with anything though I suspect! Good luck!

I would suggest going to a small independent shop that sells f&b paint, or paint some onto a piece if paper and take it with you, and have fabric books from various suppliers. The staff will be able to help you choose a fabric and advise on suitability etc. I would say to get a good selection of colours you need to be looking at fabric suppliers like Linwood, Jane Churchill, Colfax and Fowler. They aren't cheap but the colours are strong and true. Good luck.
