dark wood floors with what wall colour

All the pics I am seeing of living rooms with dark wooden floors seem to have white walls with white furniture. I am not too impressed with this look. Please offer suggestions with alternative light wall colours. I would like to keep a modern minimalistic look but with colours. Thanks!

Hi there, We have a couple of darker option, I believe when going for a dark flooring it tends to create a more warm and cosy feel. We have a couple of option in stock that may be something of interest, these options are engineered boards. The first option we would have is the Pyrenees Smoked Oak, this is a stunning wide oak board. With the wider planks it creates depth to the room like no other board. On another note, it is also available inHerringbone style. The second option would be our gorgeous Hand scraped Geneva oak, with the deep rich colour, it gives the room a fantastic rich feel. The Third option we would have in stock would be our Oslo Oak, This board is relatively dark compared to the boards mentioned above. Do you have an idea on the exact colour you would be looking for? Hello webuser_348360, Reeve.. because they are one of my trade companies... Their wood is really lovely.. I have all their samples displayed in my bedroom which is a feature on the design page on my website! I thought that you might like to look at a variety of lovely colours and textures that might be of interest, as there's so much more than just a natural coloured floor..... With the chalky whites... Acre, Shirting and White Lead are all lovely creamy warm whites.. Also Slaked Lime, but it's less creamy and can appear cool... LG is low VOC and water based.. so nice for the environment and easy on the brushes! : ))

Hello Precious! I used Natural Hessian as the base colour all over my previous house. I had the standard new build light beige carpet throughout so a light coloured wood would work well. I personally think the grey wood wouldn't work well with it. As for accents, I used a bright duck egg blue in the bedroom, a pea green in the living room and used dulux cookie dough as a natural compliment in the hallway and landing. If you have any paint left, a good trick is to paint an a3 piece of paper and take it shopping with you. Test your favourite colours and floorings against it. A small colour swatch is pretty useless for doing this. Don't be shy to ask for samples to take home and try in situ. I found Natural Hessian didn't half change coulur in different lights and different rooms. Have fun and good luck.
