Wallpaper and paint

I have a grey and sliver wallpaper and I wanted a paint half of the wall and was wondering what colour would be nice?

I have a view on this having discussed it with my sister who is a home stager in the USA. Having painted my last 2 places "White Chocolate" by Craig and Rose (my OH called it posh Magnolia), following my sis's lead in using the equivalent "Inviting Ivory" (Sherwin-Williams US paint) - times have moved on. Before we moved from the "London-By-Sea" (Brighton) we were off-trend. The metropolitan-style savvy locals had bought white big-time. Nothing with any yellow undertone was permitted. Magnolia was viewed as the "Devil's Colour". Then came the grey and greige revolution. Everything neutral as long as it was grayscale. But as us folks up-north and less savvy caught on, the metro-elites moved on to new pastures. Recently I have started to spot a colour called "cashmere" - I am tempted to change my obsession - but first I need to make sure I am not committing some cardinal colour sin that I will be regretting and lusting after F&B "Clunch"!

Hi. Has the coving been purchased already? I would be tempted to leave it personally, it may fight with the stove. I agree with others an olive green or maybe a grey for the alcoves. Has the rest of the room been painted? I think you need to introduce colour, you've got the striking pink and olive in your blinds but there isn't colour in the rest of the room, and texture as there's a lot of wood. I'd look at kitchen accessories. Maybe look at painting dining table legs and chairs (if you want a country look!). If not maybe a table runner and cushions with a big vase of flowers. I'd put an occasional chair to the left of the stove. It will make the area cosy and hopefully cover the sockets. I'd add a basket for logs the other side ( although not convinced it's a wood burner?!). Maybe have a rug in front of the hearth or if you like them as some people don't, put one under the table. I'd also look at the furniture arrangement, there looks to be space to pull the dining table out from the wall? Maybe also pendant lights for over the breakfast bar and potentially one in the dining space? Do also look at plants and herbs, they'll pick up the green and look great in a kitchen. I think also a bigger piece of art over the radiator and maybe move the art either side of the clock elsewhere

Hello there, congratulations on your new house! Personally I love old houses and think you are a lucky owner of a beautiful place with so much character. I absolutely agree with comments above. Replastering is the best solution and the right investment. Include it into your budget and you will never regret (even in 20 years). Wallpaper won't last that long and then will limit you in what you can do with it. And even then it will not look as great as finish on nicely plastered wall. I have suggestion for your landing and hallway with stairs, French wash paint will look very nice and cozy. For example (there are more colours to choose from) Good luck with project!
