What style dining table & chairs?
Comments (8)If you have the bench built by a carpenter you should consider storage. You can have drawers (most expensive) openings for baskets (buy the baskets and build around it!) or top opening which would be good for things you don't need to get to very often. You could do a custom cushion to fit it or loose cushions, for the base cushion if you can't stretch to custom look at cushions for garden seating or Carolyn Donnelly in Dunnes (not sure if you have Dunnes) do rectangular flat cushions. Consider looking at a second hand website for a round table with pedestal and paint it if you don't like the finish. I find them for my clients all the time!! The one in the pic is IKEA I think and won't be very durable but a good stop gap option. You could also look at benches in IKEA and put together your own bench. It is worth the effort as you are sort of adding a sofa to the area and I am sure it will be one of your favourite bits of the house. Good luck with it!!...See MoreMixing dining table and chair styles
Comments (30)The kitchen looks lovely. I like the table and it works well with the lights and I'd put the eames chairs with it or a mix of chairs (an old church chair is good for keeping kids colouring in stuff in but not sure of their age! ) What wood were you looking at? However having said that, your table is butt against the bar and the legs on this table are wider than the top so if you went for this one I think you'd need to go for a short table. As kikiamack said pedestal tables are good although hard to find a rectangular one (!) or as colourhappy said an old farmhouse one would work. Would an extending table also be an option? How many do you need to seat on a regular basis? Are the lights centred over the bench?...See MoreDesk Chair Help and Fitting

Comments (13)It's definitely too tight for room. Your walk ways as standard should be 1m, however, even reduced down to those dimensions it won't all fit. I would suggest, as you've already said a breakfast bar isn't practical with young children, that you do not need stools at an island. The compromise needs to be the need for drawers on both sides of the island. Surely you wouldn't need this with a utility and walk in pantry. I've amended the plan a little to make a proper pantry on the left. You could keep the wide 900mm island, and fit a table against it without the drawers both sides. Like this. This could then extend to the same width as the island for entertaining, but you would probably need to push the sofa back a bit to fit a lot of people in. You could also consider dropping the Island width down to 600mm as you don't need the stools. Every little helps! By cutting down to a 600mm island, you almost have the obligatory sized walk throughs. You still don't achieve drawers both sides of the island or room for stools though. Have you thought about maybe using a concept planner? Karen @ OnePlan comes highly regarded on here, amongst others and eats plans like these for breakfast. I think she'd prove to be indispensible....See Moreq7777
