Design idea & Would involving architect be too costly?
Comments (6)Hi there. If you wanted to look at not to go with an architect or wanted to limit the costings here - it's always best to get your ideas sorted before you enlist their help. You can do this yourself setting up Houzz idea books, putting some plans on Houzz to get advice (after listing your desires and layout possibilities) or you can call in a concept planner or interior designer to help you look at this stage. From here, they would (at a fraction of the cost of an architect) look at how to best utilise the space to suit your personal needs and requirements, they can then advise what need to happen next in regards to architects, structural engineers etc. Hopefully only needing one main set of plans (and planning permission) sorted by an architect. If your looking for styling too then as an interior designer I take all that on board from the start of the project and it's thought about as a whole to ensure we have a clear goal in mind before anything is started - meaning you know where you stand and what you're heading for all the way through your project ...ending with not only a functional but also beautiful home!...See MoreNew bathroom
Comments (11)I am a tiler and I used all kind of tiles and mosaics. Best advice ,as your corner shower will be around 800/800mm ,get porcelain tiles . In London,European Heritage sells porcelain with carrara marble print (white and greish veins gloss shiny finish or other color options) at 795/795mm. That would mean about 3 tiles per wall. around 240 the whole set of tiles with only 2 horizontal grout lines. For best results, use Mapei grout(you can find it even at B&Q nowdays. Add black matt finish taps and mixers and you have a relaxing colour mix....See MoreBest way to schedule electrics for (as yet undecided) new Kitchen?
Comments (4)The floor shouldn't need to come up unless you have to run electricity through to the basement and there's no other way of doing it. The plasterboard on the ceiling would certainly need to come down. My advice is to get the electrician to start on other rooms and spend the next day or so emergency planning the kitchen layout - most kitchen retailers / fitters will do a layout plan for you as part of a quote and you pick the layout you like best....See MoreDouble Story Extension - any one else starting a project soon?
Comments (74)Wow that looks beautiful, I am jealous of the brick. We wanted a very similar colour brick but the council wouldn’t allow and I didn’t want the red brick so we went with blocks and hopefully crisp render. We started our build towards end of Jan. Double extension, the foundations laid and then had the structural engineer out and final final details drawn up. The ground floor blocks have been laid and the scaffold has gone up so don’t know how long that will take. Our builders seem on track and have said August finish but I think it will be September/October Tani how many bedrooms did you have built and how many rooms downstairs? Also from start date to now what has the time scale been? Xx...See Morebwiseman88
