Best worktop

I want a white worktop in my new kitchen to go with my grey units I don't want laminate or wood or corian so what is my best option I want something good quality and hard wearing but also beautiful any recommendations?

We definitely recommend Silestone, which is a natural Quartz. That is very popular with our clients.

If you really want the best then it has to be Corian. They now do a Natural stone range that looks just like granite but it is more hard wearing and can even be repaired if ever needed.

Use real wood and seal it with marine based sealer, you could use whatever type wood you can afford then seal it...works on boats will work for you

All Quartz is very much alike. I have manufactured it for years and experienced so many different brands I have lost count. People buy Silestone because it is a well known brand. It's characteristics and performance is in no way superior to other leading quartz suppliers. Caesarstone you're looking at is great, and the calacatta nuvo they have is a really nice new colour from them. However it is also ridiculously expensive and essentially an imitation, a fake. Always consider natural marble carefully. If sealed correctly, supplied honed and well maintained. It will be not be as hard work as you imagine and far far more beautiful. Have a look at the Turkish brand Cimstone. Or the Belgian Unistone. Both are great, cheaper alternatives if it's Quartz you have decided on. Or there are even cheaper Quartz manufacturers from the Far East. The good ones are manufactured in controlled conditions by experienced people and you will get a good product, don't be put off. Essentially the difference is after sales/support and occasionally some irregularities/defects in the slabs from the Far East. These can always be avoided during fabrication tho.

Hello @ourhousemadeperfect Interesting and very good question! I have to admit Lifestyle Kitchens have hit the nail on the head with their answer. Both products boast really good individual qualities, Quartz seems to be the main leader at the moment with the kitchen projects we have on the go. And again as Lifestyle Kitchens have said, the best advice anyone can give you is the finished outcome - have a really good hunt around for suppliers/companies that specialise in quartz/granite worktops and then ask to see examples of their work. Another point to make on this note is how the installers do the worktop joints - there are some incredible companies that will where possible do a joint that is almost seamless (obviously natural stone etc is harder for colour/pattern matching but they will always do their best to make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible and as minimal as possible). However in my time designing I have came across some awful looking joints that stand out like a sore thumb - which is why it's really important to find a company that will show you examples of their work and hopefully be able to give you so much information you will walk away feeling like an expert. Silestone is my preferred choice as its so durable and doesn't stain, low maintenance is good in a kitchen and when white!
