This is where we need to know more about your hedge which I can't tell from the photo. If it's Leylandii you cannot cut it behind the last green shoot because it will not re-shoot and you'll be looking at a brown curtain forever. If it's brown because it's diseased then that is another problem altogether! My suggestion is you join the Royal Horticultural Society and then send them a sample of the dead clipping for them to pronounce upon! I can't tell you about diseases for sure and not at a distance. You'll also get plenty of plant advice from them generally. www.rhs.org.ik you'll be in safe hands there (it's only about £40 per year and has other benefits too. Good luck.

Yes I've seen a number of postwar houses made over in the style you describe- cedar cladding, dark grey windows, usually some white rendering too. Door is generally replaced with a modern style in wood or dark grey. It works very well.. My only caution would be to get the internal layout decided before shelling out for windows and doors just in case you find you want to move a window or door slightly (which is not a big deal usually).

Did you go to multiple showrooms and outlets to look get a scope of the market or maybe look online? I copied a hotel bathroom I had liked as well as a picture from Houzz 2. Did you measure the bathroom yourself? No. If no, would you be confident in measuring your bathroom yourself? No 3. Had you heard of any bathroom manufacturers or companies before you started research to do your own bathroom? No 4. Did you need a lot of help on the layout and design and bathroom? The builders planned it 5. If you were guaranteed by hundreds of customers that the quality was excellent + the manufacturers own guarantee would you still want to touch, feel and see the product before buying it - if you were supplied images like the images at the bottom?? See proposed vs real Would go with reviews 6. What do you wish you had / hadn't done? Happy with it as it is, though wish I'd got my own tiler and not used the builder's 7. What do you love about your bathroom? The big bath, the power shower, the space 8. @Jonathan - The frames and door are nearly 25 years old, and so are coming up to being ready to be replaced (almost all other houses on the estate have moved over to uPVC). @Sven I'm not mad on the door colour. It's previously been black (a little boring) and pillar box red (which I preferred). @Man about the House, thanks for the picture. I guess I need to do some mock-ups. Are there any free/straightforward to use tools that people on here use for that sort of thing (i.e. not Photoshop). I think I see what you're saying about keeping the timber matching the bricks, but would like to see it in grey too (maybe we could paint the bricks to match?)
