Feature wall colour

Living room quite dark only one small window. Black log burner, plan to have a wood effect floor. Would it be better to paint walls in light colour, with red feature chimney wall. Or a different colour scheme?

Why not try and go darker to create a cosy intimate space, with red tartan pattern throw and accessories? If you order the F&B inspiration booklet it has some great ideas how to embrace darker paint colours in spaces which are already dark. Also add mood lighting by using floor lamps, wall lamps and candles.

This may sound a bit radical but I would be tempted to paint them bright white or if that's too wild, a slightly less bright, 'sail white'. White lifts grey. Whatever you do, don't spoil the ship for a ha'penny's worth of tar: if you can stretch to it, get a professional to strip and paint. Otherwise, get the best materials and put your soul into the work (boring but worth it).

Pinks obviously appeal to you so why not look at a blush pink (if you go for a slightly more nuder blush than shown it's pretty much a neutral colour). The darker accents for the art also stop it from feeling too girly. Rather than the greige walls go for a warm white and bring in the greige/grey for the sofas. I wouldn't go too dark for the sofas if the room isn't that large as they will overpower the room. I agree with Carolina though, if you're refurbishing the whole house then create ideabooks and state what you like about particular rooms then you should reach perfection

Okay. Not sure why you were set on blue? I can't see blue going well with your sofa? But I've tried F&B Hague Blue and that seems to go fairly well. Anyway, it's nearly impossible to give paint colour advice based on photos on screen, since colours will look different on every screen and are also influenced by the light in a room. But... here are visuals of Brinjal, Hague Blue and Salon Drab. Which whall(s) are you thinking of painting? All three? I'm not keen on the Brinjal, because I feel that it will cast a red glow over the room? I quite like the look of Salon Drab on my screen. Looks nice and calm and cosy. Might be totally different on your screen or in real life though.

The red chimney wall was just an idea for the chimney breast, the wood burner is in the old fire place

Hi. If you're wanting to go light farrow and ball do a range of warm neutrals, if you're keen on the red chimney breast you could look at these pairings as a suggestion: savage ground/radicchio, joa's white/rectory red, Oxford stone/picture gallery red. Personally I'd go for Inside Studio's suggestion and make sure you add the lighting or you could mix the neutral ŵalls with a darker chimney breast or alcoves
