Is this sofa too high for low ceilings?

No problem, Suggestions would be to keep the ceiling colour lighter than the walls, use of verticle stripes on walls (they don't have to be bold) Ceiling to floor window treatments i.e try to hang curtains/blinds as close to the ceiling as possible and yes uplights will help gloss ceilings to reflect light is also great.
