Comments (4)It sounds as if there is movement in the floor. Did the Building Inspector inspect the building work and issue a Completion Certificate for the work? If not there may be structural problems that you should sort out first. The joists could be undersized so the floor is deflecting. I recommend getting in a structural engineer to check this. If there is a problem they will advise what needs to be done. Worth spending a few hundred pounds on this. Rigid floor tiles need a firm stable base which is more difficult to achieve on a timber floor structure. They do not usually work if just laid over a typical chipboard floor. I would recommend employing an experienced bathroom designer who should be able to come up with a design you like and includes the storage you need. They are likely to know tradesman who have carried out successful installations. This may cost more but will dramatically reduce the risk of problems....See MorePlease help me with colour scheme for my house
Comments (20)I was a die hard F&B fan - painted numerous houses solely in F&B for the finish etc. HOWEVER due to budget constraints, a current offer at Homebase on Dulux paint (inc. mix) , and the fact i'm painting an entire 3 storey house i experimented with colour matching F&B colours - specifically Cornforth White, Purebeck Stone, Ammonite and Pink Ground. Opting for the Endurance Matt and Flat Matt finishes by Dulux i was pleasantly surprised by the results. The colour match was pretty much spot on - i would caveat that the Dulux colour match won't produce matching finishes for all colours. For example Dulux couldn't match a flat eggshell in the Cornforth White so we bought Estate Eggshell from F&B and it goes perfectly well with the walls in the matched Dulux Endurance Matt. In the master bedroom we choose to use F&B Cornforth White and Pink Ground and estate emulsion and I felt it was a thinner paint than the Dulux! The added benefit of the Dulux colour match is that they can provide a number of different more durable finishes. Comments (14)Thanks all! yes i am coming round to the idea of grey walls, think the stark white walls may be the main problem with the room! Thanks for the mock up MATH, really helps to visualise it. and I like the green, had been thinking of green too and that would link with the faux plant idea. Coukd also get picture of canvas with the green colour in. Unfortunately dont want to change the mirror atm, it's wired in and gives good lighting. for painting the walls, what shade should I try? a really light grey so it's not obvious or something darker but still not as dark as the wall tiles? Monica, I presume u mean wall tiles or do u mean the floor tiles? and should I paint all the walls or jusy the sink wall? only thing is the towel rail wall is such a big expanse of blank white!! how is best to sort that? maybe a shelf with the said plants on??...See Moretamp75
