Comments (4)I think grey is so overdone since it became fashionable after the death of chocolate brown six or seven years ago. The trend is changing so that while grey still exists (such as in your cabinetry), it's not the focus. The 2016 Colour of the Year is white! Each paint company has selected a few that they are featuring so it's not one particular Pantone this year. The idea is to have your white walls and then pop them with beautiful clear colour, and the grey is a perfect foil for the colours. We're not back in the Nature colours of beige/gold/sage/browns. It's more orange, red, bright mustard yellow, clear greens, turquoise, navy and so on. You need to find a source of inspiration, which could be your wallpaper. There are some gorgeous ones available and these would be your best starting point. When you choose your upholstery, be brave and go for a colour! Hope this helps :)...See MoreHiding TV in Georgian-style living room
Comments (4)You could use a motorised mechanism, similar to the ones they use in beds and hide it inside a sideboard/chest. You can get such furniture ready made, but the choice may be limited. If you really don't want gadgets then put it in a normal cabinet and have doors in front of the set, or fake books....See MoreAdvice re best 'white' for beautiful Georgian property
Comments (9)That's true they don't do oil based! I've used little Greene intelligent eggshell (water based) on my kitchen cabinets and am really happy with how hard wearing it is which has been on 3 years. Just walnut is a great colour, it can have a pink undertone which some people like and some don't. Their Egyptian cotton is also a great colour. F&B elephants breath is very popular but can read as more grey if the rooms are lacking light or try the lighter skimming stone which is close to Egyptian cotton. It might be worth looking at little Greene Rubine ashes or the slightly darker dash of soot or limestone or mortar....See MoreNeed help choosing new wall colour for sitting room.
Comments (53)Well the walls have been repainted at last. And the winner was....................... F&B Cromarty! Second was Mizzle, but it looked a little too dark in my north facing room, but it was a close contender. Thank you all for your brilliant advice. We both love the colour, and you can see how different it is in various areas. E D - the sofas are now away from the walls and the castors are sitting on brass cups (the plastic ones shattered) and it has worked, they don’t move!...See Moremrsmcee74
