Houzz app on Kindle Fire

Hi,
My Houzz app used to work fine on my Kindle Fire HD, but it's insisting on storing my country as US rather than UK. It's also quite an old version I think (v3.1.2) but this is the latest available on the Amazon app store.

Should updates be available through Amazon, or if not, can you provide a direct link to the latest APK file so I can install the update myself?

Hi Charlesh555,

Here's a guide on how to change the country in settings:

1. Click on the menu button

2. Click on Your Houzz

3. go to account tab

4. Click on settings

5. Click on country

6. Select United Kingdom

7. The app should ask to restart, click "ok"

8. After the app loads again it'll be set to UK.

*You can see in the settings screen that it's set to "United Kingdom" after the restart completes.

Please let me know if it still resets to US.

We are working on a new version of the app for Kindle, so it should be available shortly! I'l keep you posted.

Hi Emmeline,

I've followed those steps, but after restarting the app the country remains set as US.

Shouldn't the Android app just work fine on the Kindle? If you could post a link to where the APK can be found (Kindles aren't recognized as valid devices by the Google Play store) then I can try it and let you know.

Yes, please. Hiding the ugly necessities of daily living so that they are easily accessible. Colour advise needed

Personally I think it is easiest when you choose a palate of colours that work with each other. To make this work choose three neutrals to start with. Given how this house was previously decorated it suggests Mum prefers warmer colours. So say you like Dulux paint you look at their site and choose a soft white such as white cotton and a warm neutral such as Egyptian cotton and then another such as Jurassic Stone. Then I would use these as a starting point and use them again and again in different rooms adding accents. So for instance in the lounge you might paint the woodwork and coving in White cotton, the walls and ceiling in Egyptian Cotton and then a punch of colour in one wall such as the chimney breast. In the hallway you might use White Cotton and Jurassic Stone (in small spaces it is sometimes better to have a simpler palate to make it feel less cluttered and bigger.) In a bedroom you could paint walls and woodwork in White cotton but paint a wall for contrast. Then I would be thinking about what accent colour to continue throughout- So if Mum likes green the living room accent wall could be a bold colour like Heathland, but you might choose a more restful green in the bedroom such as Crushed Aloe, and something fresher for the Kitchen such as Spring meadow. I would use the same neutrals again and again and paint colour with restraint. Then of course you layer on more colour with soft furnishings and you might also give furniture a fresh lease of life by painting it - this trick also helps tie picture frames into a scheme.

Hi Suzanne, The stairs i had in the drawing were my version of what i thought it would look like before we got formal drawings from the architect (bit of cut and paste of existing plans). I do have an updated version he did i'll post here. However on this plan the bay at the back of the kitchen is too narrow and we haven't got the side windows shown in the kitchen etc. The stairs i had shown have a half landing. Our current stairs have 2 quarter landings. The stairs only go up 1 floor - 15 steps (15th being the landing level). We are also constrained by some eaves so the steps can't come up directly onto the landing by the wall due to head height issues - i have shown this with a red line. Happy to consider any stair variants you mentioned. I will take a look at stairbox.com thank you. The hall is approx 7.5m by 3.5m if you include the utility/coat cupboard area in the overall space. Hi Charles,

I've just heard back from the tech team. They've found the bug so the issue will be resolved in the new release. Unfortunately, I don't have a date when this will be available, but I hope it'll be by the end of this week.

Hello, I've just downloaded the app on kindle fire, and I'm having this same issue - it still defaults to US despite numerous restarts following the steps above.
