Which shade of grey for the curtains

Hello,
I am in a big trouble wondering about which shade of grey to use for my walls in the living room after I bought this fabric for my curtains. I bought actually "Warm pewter" of the Dulux range, but it was before I found and liked this fabric. Now I am thinking that a lighter shade of grey is needed... And I don't have much time to decide - the decorators will need the right paint tomorrow! Please help to take the decision!

If you take the material sample to a big paint store, they will do an exact match for you and you can then look at the range associated with that (on their swatches). So you could go for, say, a darker version of the blueish grey or the exact shade of cream/taupe in the material?
Hope that helps a bit with your thought process, especially as you're in a rush! xxx

Thank you for the advice. It is not an option for me to go to a store with the fabric's sample as I don't have one, but I consider your advice for going darker maybe. The "Warm pewter" is dark enough, probably darker than required though. Luckily the decorators gave me one more day to wonder...

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to reply. When I said coffee I certainly didn't mean brown and I agree that it is dated. As you say, the room will effectively be a blank canvas which is great but it means I'm literally starting again. Yes I intend to paint and replace the carpet (I'm 30, current owners are close to 70) but struggling with where to start. I'd like the room to be warm and smart. I'd like it to be regal too (if that's possible!). Pastels seem a good idea. In my head I was thinking of a weak latte on the walls, brushed chrome fittings, white doors. Carpet over wooden floors is a must for me but I'm uncertain whether latte-ish paint would suit carpet and if so what colour. I'm also concerned that with it being a biggish room whether beiges, lattes etc might look a little tacky? So in short I'm open to ideas!

I wouldn't be too concerned having brown specks in the stone top to match the floor. I would recommend to get some real Silestone samples from your kitchen company and look at them in your house against your floor. Also get some paint samples and put together a mood board. This will give you an idea of the overall look, this is what I do for my clients. It takes all the confusion and guess work out of it, when you can see samples and not just looking at the colours on the computer screen.

After lots of hard google searching, we have actually found the original photo and it is apparently Benjamin Moore Barren Plain. Photo is also on Houzz in case anyone is interested: https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/jane-lockhart-interior-design-transitional-hallway-and-landing-toronto-phvw-vp~1267835 The points however of course remain ... it will look slightly different in our hallway so much so that any one of the other suggestions might actually create the 'look' we are after in the photo better for our light conditions! Time for more tester pots. We should set up an eBay of tester pots!
