Are the dimensions the overall or the seating dimensions? If the former, what are the seating dimensions?

The dimensions mentioned in the description are the overall dimensions. The seat dimensions are: W 50" x D 22".

You can go to a carpet store, pick out a carpet and have it made into a rug with bound edges. Also, in some carpet stores/furniture stores you can order a rug in a specific size. Worth looking around for that.

Obobble and Suzanne C, thanks for the comments. I think the idea of putting the shower and toilet along the right hand wall is a good idea. Do you think there would be room if I put the vanity unit parallel on the opposite left hand wall, rather than underneath the window? (Sorry I like the idea of having a mirror in front of me rather than the window obobble!) Also what do people think are comfortable dimensions for a spacious walk in shower? If I put the shower in the back right hand corner then I’m not tied so much by the width of the window I think as it won’t jut up next to it? Ie it could be wider that 76.5cm?

rinq good point. Here is what we have so far. Some notes: - The rest of the plan has changed slightly so I don't want to waste people's time commenting on that. I will upload our final draft in a new post when we have it for feedback on the whole plan. - The main room in question has had 1m added along the horizontal to make it 8.90m long. - We have decided we want to swap the kitchen and dining rooms. - The front door has also been removed from that back wall (the bottom of the plan) so that back wall is now doorless. The front door is now located where the word "screenshot" is conveniently located. :D Ellie good questions. The house is being designed now. The architects have suggested a room this size based on feedback we gave them. Now we have it drawn up we don't love it. For example, I hate having the back of the sofa in the way of the hallway there. I think that is terrible design. It all looks cramped to me. There are 3 of us in this home. In the plan above you can see a rectangle in the top right with the lines across it. That is a closed in porch/veranda so there is some living space there too. Otherwise, this is it. minipie thanks very much. It's good to know it works for you and yours. I've added the proposed zoning above and wondered if that resembled yours in any way?

It depends on a lot, like the shape of the room, the access points and dimensions around the room and so on. If you imagine that the ideal depth would be a minimum of 500mm (up to 600mm) for hanging space in open units - depending on what you are hanging or shelving. And you would want around 1m for dressing and access - it should give you a good idea. Here is a plan view which may help you. fingers crossed.
