Help redecorating my dinning room!!

So far we have ordered a new dinning room table (pictured below) and have painted the walls in farrow and ball welvet (above dado) and Cornforth White (below dado). These are all greys. So all I have left to do is pick a wallpaper for the chimney breast and cabinets for alcoves.
I have added some pics of the wallpaper that I like ( Anna French, Abington grey) and the cabinets that I quite like. But I am wondering if it will all match? Especially the cabinets with the dinning room table. Will they look ok together? But I think I quite like the idea of them not matching.
Your thoughts would be most appreciated. Thanks ( I have added more pic in the 2nd comment)

Trust your judgement! If you love the table and the cabinets I see no reason not to combine them. I have space in a shop where I sell furniture I refurbish and accessories etc and I have spent hours advising/discussing design decisions with customers. As a general rule I tell them that if they are living with hand me downs or emergency budget buys that they would ideally like to replace eventually, there is no point buying items to go with them! If however, like you, they have chosen furniture they love and they also love the piece they are looking at, then go for it. There is no rule that says everything has to 'match' and if in doubt choose things that make you happy. For what it's worth I love the new dining table, the top is gorgeous, and I think the design of the wallpaper mirrors the scrolling on the cabinets, so it works for me :)

I suggest you look through the photo section of Houzz and make an idea book for each room, so you can work out what styles, colours and feel you want to go for. What colours you go for depends on how you want the room to feel e.g light and airy, cosy and warm. We're all for a bit of hard work, and would definitely paint the cupboards. You are right not to use F&B, it's an inferior paint compared to dulux, and not correct for your purposes, being Eggshell finish. Dulux Trade Satinwood is far better, gives a better finish and is hardwearing. ( It's also more expensive than F&B i'm afraid, but you get what you pay for ). I'd paint the cupboards in a pale grey and replace the knobs. Give the area behind the bed a good dark grey finish, to help with making your choice of headboard really stand out. Hi The room size is about 5 meter * 12 meter. I am planning to replace the sofas. One side of the room has bay window and other side’s window will be closing. Scandi look is often, but not always,light wood or light painted furniture with pale walls, usually white. So I would paint the walls white or off white and I would paint the wooden fire surround white too (Satinwood). The bookcase and tv unit are quite pale so should work. The sofas aren’t really in keeping with that look as they are so dark, but you could add some nice light cushions in various cottons in pale greens, pinks, beiges and blues. A nice natural jute rug will go well too. Pinterest has a huge array of pictures to inspire you. It’s very easy to join and you can save pictures to a mood board.

I think your new Dining room table will look just fine with your decor. I personally would change the lights as I think that grey (I've got a grey front room) definitely needs something to warm it up and if you're not going to introduce an accent colour then you need to make sure you have sufficient lighting to create that warm, cozy feel

I love your cupboards & the detail on them as well as the wallpaper pattern. It looks very calming. Our dining room is quite neutral too because I like doing interesting table settings.

I like your colour scheme , very elegant for a dining room and the wallpaper is subtle , a good combination . Your new table has surface texture , which I like , but I don't think your choice of cabinets will fit in with the overall style . They are quite dominating and two will overpower everything in the room . You may wish to consider whether you want a cabinet on both sides . I also agree that lighting a grey toned room is key to it's eventual ambience.

I love all your items they go really well together. are you going to have a statement light fitting over the dining table? that would be fab and just replace those wall lights they are too boring. other than that well done love it

I agree with the above comment; once all together, I think the mirrored units will look great in the recesses and will add a little "sparkle" to the room when the wall lights are replaced!! Pictures of the finished room please!

Also, sorry!, have you chosen the fabric dining chairs or the painted ones? Or a mixture of both? Personally I think the fabric chairs alone will compliment rather than fight - which with the painted chairs, cabinets and wall paper mix I fear they may!

Thanks so much for all your comments. The lights are definitely going. I think I'll leave choosing them until last tho!!. I have spot lights on the ceiling so unfortunately I can't have a hanging light.
I am getting the fabric chairs, but I have actually, since changed my mind about the wallpaper

Sorry only seems to have sent half my reply!! Yes so I hadn't seen these comments, so I went to look for more wallpaper and I like the above two. The first is a indigo colour and is fab and the second is off white with silver. But I don't know if I Should go back to my original choice. I know that the mirrored cabinets won't go, so I'll be back to square one, but I don't mind as I want to get everything

Oh sorry just wanted to add, I need to decided on wallpaper by tomorrow as decorator is coming Friday to finish glossing and put paper up!!! So order paper!! I didn't think choosing wallpaper would be so hard.

I love the indigo wallpaper too - much better to my eye than the grey! I think it would look good with the cabinets and your other choices.

So now that I've seen all the wallpapers in a different light, I am going to go with this trellis one for the chimney breast. I hope I have picked the right one!!

I'm sure it will look lovely, like I said it's your room and if you choose what appeals to you, you can't go too far wrong! Even if you did change your mind at a later date it's only a small area to redo. Be sure and post pictures of the finished room :)

Hi, what period is the property?
I would be tempted in see what's behind the plastered chimney breast where the fireplace used to be. Where the fire opening is. You may discover that theres some nice bare brick that just needs rendering or the original fire back. Get a period cast iron fire surround off Ebay (very affordable) that will fit the opening and place a couple of candles in there. it would add more character to the room than a blocked off fireplace / lifeless chimney breast.

Hi Helen, the table and chairs are from furniture village. They are lovely aren't they. I can wait for them to get delivered.
Thanks for your reply Charles, but we have just taken our old fire place out as we wanted to free up more space for table and chairs and we never used that fire in the dinning room anyway. The house was built in the 60's so I don't think much could of been done. Thanks anyway
