Upper cabinets

What size are the upper kitchen cabinets. And the door with the glass insert, is it just made to look like two cabinets are stacked one on top of the other but is actually just one piece?

Thanks for your inquiry. The upper cabinets are 39" high with a 3" scribe/moulding to an 8' ceiling. We've done toplights in the doors so yes, it is one door but gives you that stacked look.

Hi Elainer, North facing rooms are always difficult. It sounds as if you have gone as far as you can with natural light using skylights and french doors, well played. As a designer my safe advice is always to avoid dark colours in a dark room. That said you commented that you liked dark kitchens so my initial reaction is to tell you to stick to your guns. Dark rooms, if lit properly, can be very dramatic. The magazines are full of white rooms, this is a chance for you to make a statement and create drama ! If you do this make sure you spend a lot of time and a reasonable budget on lighting design or you will end up with a dark forbidding room + no drama. Make sure "all" the worktops have light directly above, under wall unit lights etc. Balance the LED ceiling lights to a bright white, not yellow or blue cast. Where possible ensure the ceiling lights are a narrow beam, this gives pinpoint intense light without bleeding out. Most importantly invest in a scene set control to allow you to control the settings to create lighting scenes. My only word of warning on this is that if you don't invest time and effort into the lighting this room the word drama will be replaced by the word "Dull" I love doing dark rooms but they are much harder to get right.... Here is a layout of the room. It will get lots of light as it’s a south facing garden and will have velux windows and bifold doors. The rooms leading into the kitchen/diner are the lounge one side and hallway the other. Lounge has light grey carpet and hallway will be engineered wooden floor when done.

We were on our way to removing the RH long bit to make the desk straight but stopped here at a half-way house position - just to consider it. We do a lot of procrastinating in my house!! Means retaining the large corner space. Needs a new top, obvs and in a different shape, probably curved? What do you think? Now got a fair bit of free wall. Daughter likes it:) Electrician comes next week so we need to decide this weekend.

Sorry, I am a bit late to this party! So, if you did not already have the primer, I would have said speak to me! Paint has been really well developed so you do not need oil based anymore, you can get waterbased paint that is tried and tested for kitchen cabinets now.
