We did use marble in the shower walls and hex on the floor tiled over a tray. Re etching not too much w calacatta polished but Carrara honed yes (another bathroom) Re cleaning No limescale remover or bleach can be used or it is ruined! Re-tiling under log burner- how difficult is it?

Thank you Angela, that's super helpful! Did he have to cut the flu down as the log burner will go back in a couple of centimetres higher or is there any easy way around it? Did you use special tiles or would normal Limestone tiles be okay so you think? Thanks for taking the time to reply and share the pic!

I now have access to the tiles so can see it all together. The Strong White is a fab match but I'm thinking if going 2 colours down so that we can use the same colour in the connecting utility room which had very pale matt grey units going in which are close to Ammonite in colour. So, Cornforth White seens like the ideal choice. Is F&B paint worth the extra cost, though, as we could try Crown's Linen Cupboard as an alternative? See pic:

Hi You need to check re soil pipe - my opinion is that it is best to keep the WC as close to the soil pipe as possible to avoid unnecessary problems.
