Need help for my living room
Comments (20)I have a two very similar rooms to this. In the living room I painted the coving, windows, door and skirts in Railings by farrow and ball (it's a very dark blue black). It looks bloody fabulous and because of the height and scale of the room it can really carry it off and looks very grand. I then wallpapered the entire room in the scion range by harlequin. Be bold, rooms like this can really take it. The bedroom which is identical I painted completely in RAilings (walls, coving, skirts, doors etc) and it looks awesome and every single person that sees it loves it although 99% of people wouldn't be brave enough to do it as it's very dark. Google abigail AHern as she loves using dark paint throughout her interiors and it really works, esp if you have a period property . I personally stay away from feature walls as I think they've had their day and look a bit 'changing rooms' circa 2002.... I've also put white wooden Venetian blinds (got them made to measure from ebay as were a lot cheaper) which also lifts both rooms. I also put a wood burner in the fireplace in the living room and have crucial trading dark grey carpets throughout. Good luck!...See MoreHelp! My living room looks a bit dull.
Comments (15)1. Curtains It depend of the orientation and if you are overlooked. The double rail is a good idea to give you privacy in the evening with a second layer of curtains. Just be aware when choosing the colours of the fabric on the sides during the day, it can really suck up light and it looks like a large window. The pole could be black or copper as Minnie suggested, picking up the browns of floor and accessories. See trough curtains like light coloured veil with a simple vertical stripes pattern will maximise the natural light. 2. Rugs Definitely patterned, geometric or abstract. http://wovenground.net/modern/abstract/canevas-_-abstract/stone Low pile or high pile? It also depend on your life style ... have you got pet, children or allergies? The high pile need a bit more attention. 3. Walls The kitchen can be treated as a separate space and painted in a different colour. The room is quite narrow so keep it light and preferably not feature wall on the wider side as it will make the room feeling even more narrow. A feature wall is used to bring the room's shape back in proportion. 4. Mirror above the radiator A round mirror, or a square will break the length of the room better then a rectangular one. It will be the first thing you see entering? Have fun and send pic of the before and after :-)...See MoreNeed help redecorating my living room
Comments (7)As you sofa is quite a dominant colour in the room, we would suggest toning it down with neutral feature wallpaper (https://www.cole-and-son.com/en/collection-geometric-ii/wallpaper-105/6026/) see below image An eye catching mirror such as this one from Graham and green should be placed above the sofa. (http://www.grahamandgreen.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/950x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/r/b/rbj8303-gold-roll-mirror.jpg) or https://www.cole-and-son.com/en/collection-curio/wallpaper-107/314 Gold accessories such as a statement mirror above the sofa would look great to add warmth and a touch of glam! check out : (http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Linea+Maria+gold+mirror+103+cm/223669299,default,pd.html) Get a longer curtain rail so when you curtains are open they sit against the wall allowing maximum natural light into the room. A rug such as the one below would tie the whole scheme together (http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-lustre-rug/p1913412?colour=Smoke) cushion: http://www.johnlewis.com/kirkby-design-by-romo-district-cushion/p1953638?colour=Orange grey cushion: http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-silk-cushion/p1697898?colour=Silver%20Grey#media-overlay_show Hope you like these schemes...they will surely freshen up your interior! Comments (15)I think you could put the tv in the opposite corner on the other side of the window, then put the two chairs (if they'll fit) side by side on that wall (with the door) with the table in between. If these are a bit too snug, you could always angle them into the centre of the room. Then the sofa could go opposite the window at right angles to the door, but a little over towards the fireplace wall. This will give you clearly defined "square" sitting room area, which you can further delineate with a rug in your chosen accent colour and then add coordinating or matching cushions and throws. I would then move what I think is a glass cabinet (in the corner of the dining part of the room) to the left hand side of the radiator cabinet. I would then try to move the dining table more towards the kitchen and the now empty corner. For the dining table I would look at getting something like a table runner or a big bowl/vase/ornament with reflects your chosen accent colour which will visually join up the two areas. I would also be tempted to replace one of the pictures with a large mirror. And also perhaps think about getting different wall art....See MoreSami Nuridinaj
