Trends often dictates what colours and styles we like, even when it comes to something as traditional as Christmas.

When it comes to choosing the colour for your Christmas decorations, baubles, lights etc., do you stick to the same colour every year or switch it up a little, depending on what's in style?

It's a toss up between silver and gold for me. Blue tops the chart as my least favourite!

Purple and black for me! Great fun finding new ones every year to add to the collection & there's such variety - the black matches my hearth and the purple toning in with key notes in my decor.

My favorite color is always changing. For now is it creamy white because I can put all my favorite colors with it and make each room have a mood of it's own. Pink is running a close second, though. Asking what is my favorite color reminds me of something my daughter once told me, "Mama, to have one favorite color is not fair to all the other colors in the box." I agree. :-)

I'm tastefully untasteful at Christmas and there's a lot of different colours in my decorations, but for me, nothing signals Christmas more than Red.

I agree with Fizzfan there has to be some red against the green. I don't typically follow trends for xmas although 2 years ago whilst popping to Waitrose for my lunch, I nipped upstairs to John Lewis and bought several Mercury glass decorations each day for a new tree in my dining room for at least 2 weeks until my husband finally put his foot down! This year I have also ordered some of the grey and white 3d paper star ceiling decorations that are around atm mainly because the tree in the living room, which was bought for my old house, is 6ft and looks a bit silly with high ceilings! I'm hoping if I hang some stars behind the tree it may give the appearance of height!

I love my tree decorated in red white & silver I've collected over the years absolutely loads of very traditional ornaments, Even though we've updated our living room the tree will never change its a real talking point when family or friends visit the tree stand's at 8ft tall & I'm so Proud! of it.

The only colour I avoid is RED. I actually avoid it full stop in my house. For me, it's too much in decor and I find it loud and aggressive, not feelings I want to feel when I'm home. I love to wear the colour though and find it classy as a wardrobe choice!

Definitely red. It goes beautifully with silver or gold or green. I love red and find it a cosy, warm colour. I recently bought a Persian rug which is beautiful. The room is a warm neutral and my decorations are traditional white, red and green.

When it comes to the Christmas lights it has to be warm white static lights and plenty of them. No flashing multi coloured lights here. Decorations are best if I can class them as "winter" decorations rather than christmas decorations.

Each year I like to try a different color way this year we went with ice blue to match the freshly decorated conservatory and daily living room, so who know what colour we will have next year
