Walls are neutral. What colour switches? Black nickel, chrome or ???
Comments (5)Any metallic switches would look smart. Decide how much contrast you want between the wall and the switch - the darker they are the more precisely you will need to position them. Try and get ones with concealed fixings, not always easy. http://www.hamilton-litestat.com/decorative-wall-plates/linea-duo-cfx/ These non metallic concealed fixing plates look good too, http://www.hamilton-litestat.com/decorative-wall-plates/hartland-cfx-colours/...See MoreHelp, recommend a warm off white for walls!
Comments (0)Hello, I need help. I am looking for a very light cream or off white for walls. I want it to be slightly warm, just to avoid the starkness of plain white (I live in England and white looks grey here most of the time). I dislike green, purple and blue undertones (right now, I have dulux "Linnet white" in the lounge which is slightly greenish, and it is driving me crazy, looks dirty and dull), I also have "white mist" in another room and it is really stark and greyish. On the other hand, I also want to avoid "jazmin white" and "magnolia" and all those yellows and pinks that belong to the past. So I'd like something almost white, almost neutral but slightly warm ideally. For example, once, living in southamerica, I created my own creamy white mixing 4 litres of white paint with 1 small sachet of ochre toner (like a spoonful). If only I could do that again or get something like that. It was lovely, like an early autumn afternoon sunlight, golden, soft, glowing. I've heard of dulux "timeless" but some say it's like a dirty white? Or too yellow? I have oak furniture and some gold and amber fabrics. Thank you!...See MoreA warm white to go with F&B downpipe in NE facing kitchen
Comments (7)Dorcas, Oh yes sorry that's great. So maybe go for Conforth White or Blackened? They should work well and has great light undertones that will help reflect light to keep it fresh looking. Maybe try a sample of those with the samples you painted of the Greys in that room? I wouldn't recommend wooden floors in the kitchen anyway so the limestone will pick out the slight yellowness in the undertones of the whites, and will help (as minni points out) to make the room feel warmer too. Don't forget to try the worktop against the colours too though as this will be impacted with what is around it :) Best of luck as always Gina...See MoreWhich neutral colour to use for walls and carpet?
Comments (5)Hi, congratulations on your new home purchase ! Neutral for the entire home is a good idea if you want a consistent feeling and flow through the house, however I would consider looking at something that has a tad of interest or texture so that it doesn't become something you might get bored with? Also, I would personally try to avoid going down the grey route for an entire home, it can become over-powering. I have recently worked with wool carpets and depending on the rest of the style of your home I would highly recommend this - the have a lovely loop-style texture and a great range of neutral colours that are really versatile. They are also very comfortable and good for insulation if 100% wool. Here is one I have used previously, close-up and as a normal view which only subtly shows the different texture. The wall colour here is Natural Hessian by Dulux, and it compliments it well in all lights. I hope that helps or gives you some inspiration! Thanks, Danielle....See MoreLaura Ciancaglini
