The kitchen is in a listed Georgian apartment in Edinburgh. It was a thin galley kitchen which had a lovely view over a garden partly blocked by the washing machine.
We took down the wall opposite the window to double the size of the kitchen.
This gave enough room for banquette seating and an L shape kitchen.
A neutral base was used for the colour scheme with pops of orange. The artist Joanna Srokol painted a water colour for behind the hob which was covered in a piece of safety glass and used as a splash back.

Comments (21)Thanks very much boundsgreener. My last small dilemma is what to do with the hall entrance which is part of the kitchen. It looks bland and clunky, but is a pretty small area. I have already ordered a radiator shelf to neaten up the area under the mirror. Obvious things that look ugly are the pipes and the fuse box. I'm thinking if getting a cabinet for the fuse box, but the pipes are hard to box in as there isn't much room on the floor by the skirting.
