Please help me finish our bathroom

Hi, this is our new bathroom, well the basics anyway. Obviously we still need things like a loo roll holder & a mirror / cabinet over the sink but wondered what else to do. The wall behind the bath is very bare. I was thinking of possibly having a chunky floating shelf above the bath with a large wooden framed mirror above that to tie in with the vanity unit. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!

Love your floor tiles !! I'd go with the big mirror. A floating shelf is a nice idea, just think about reaching over the bath to clean it though, and the likely hood of bottles of shampoo / conditioner etc being left on them as you can't put them on the edge of the bath. Can you fit another little storage chest to the other side of the toilet for all the bath stuff, it may look tidier than the shelf option. Here's a bathroom we finished a couple of years ago now with the big mirror. The amount of light in the bathroom was amazing.

Hi. The bathroom is looking good! I'm also not convinced by the praticalities of the shelf as the bath also looks quite close to the ŵall so you may bang your head etc? I would paint the bath ŵall in a dark or rich colour and then add a really large frameless mirror. I'd add a wooden stool with a little tray for toiletries and either an orchid or small plant (similar to pic). I'd go for a round wooden mirror over the sink. Do you have a central light? Something in keeping with the spa type feel would look great particularly reflected by the mirror.

If your bathroom size is 3m x 3m you will be able to easily put both, a shower and a bath tub. As to the toilet going on the wall where window is - it all really depends where the stack pipe is. Naturally it will be much easier for the toilet to be as close to the stack, but you can always box the pipe. Running it fully under the floor is not possible due to the size and can only be partial not to weaken the joists too much. I have drafted a quick layout for you with two options A and B. The difference is that option A has a smaller vanity unit, single washbasin and a mirror, while option B has a larger vanity unit, two washbasin and no mirror. Both layouts give you a decent size (1m x 1m) walk-in shower (wetroom) and a good size bath tub (2m x 0.9m). You can really shuffle things around here and for example have a bath tub by the window (upper corner opposite of the door, where toilet is now on the plan) and toilet next to it (pipe can be easily concealed under the tub). Possibly two washbasins with vanity unit and a mirror to the left of the toilet and a shower opposite to it with potential of having a washing machine (where the vanity unit is on option A). Let me know what you think and we can draft some more layouts.

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to comment. It's really tricky taking good photos as the space is so tight, but I will attach another photo and sketch to give a better idea of the space. Daisy- the photo was stretched, I didn't realise my portrait photo would be converted to landscape. So the sink is just set into a 50cm wide unit. I think the idea of moving the sink to the current bidet position is a good one, although as you'll see from the sketch there's very little wall on the left of the window so not much space for a mirror in front of the sink. Carolina- I love that photo! The bit I can't quite get is how the shower door would work if the shower head remained on the right (all the shower controls/electrics are on the other side of the wall, taking up space in a wardrobe!!) and the sink was on the left. whizzywig- the door opens out (my sketch should show it now) and the photo was taken from outside the door. I think the distance you asked for is 74cm. And yes, we queried the plumbing for a wc when we bought the house, but unfortunately it's not there - they said they didn't like the idea of a loo near their bed!!!

This might sound a bit oddball but how about a vintage tall corner cabinet for storing towels, bottles, etc. Just think that if you went with a small cabinet you’d have the same issues that you’re having now. There are lots of styles which you can pick up second hand for next to nothing and you could paint or varnish to how you want (this is just an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rustic-Tall-Corner-Cabinet-Shabby-Chic/253999560281?hash=item3b238db659:g:dasAAOSwRhFbo1mG ). I initially thought of wallpaper but think it will look too busy all over, how about getting a sample and putting into a frame for artwork. I saw this pattern (see pics) and thought it would look great with your decor, thinks it’s called Flying ducks by Mulberry. Also added a pic with idea for mirror over the sink. Thanks bagpuss & Minnie for your comments & ideas. Definitely want a plant or 2 in there - was thinking of the shelf for an orchid - not sure where else to put one! The bath is about 8 inches out from the wall but you're right, may well get cluttered.
I had thought of a little wooden stool and a round mirror would fit in with the curves in the room - thanks!
I'm not 100% happy with the floor - think the grout is too pale & wondeing whether to make it darker?

I still love the floor, and it's probably the grout that i like most about it, ties it in with the wall tiles. With darker grout, you'll not have the definition. Leave it, it's smashing !

I agree with Bagpuss, I may have had the grout marginally darker but it does tie in with the ŵall tiles and gives definition. If you're not happy why not buy a grout pen and try a piece around the back of the bath? I do think they look good though.

A large mirror on the wall would reflect light. A side table would give storage for toiletries. Yu can have a wall hanging plant or two on walls at each end of bath so you can see them when you are sat in it. Personally I would put the mirror on the side wall as I think it will make the bathroom feel wider. I would have a glass company make a mirror to fit from the tiles to the ceiling.
I like the idea of a stronger wall colour perhaps broken up with art or candle sconces.
I wouldn't have a shelf- I would put your toiletries in a basket that you can either hide or put on the stool as necessary
