New kerb appeal?
Comments (14)You need to consider the overall style of the house. It appears to be a lovely mock-Georgian style to me. As other posters have mentioned, you should neaten the shrubs to make them more formal. I would lose the fire-logs in the porch. They are more rustic cottage than Georgian. I don't think chunky oak posts mentioned by jonathandb1972 would work. You cannot transform a Georgian style into Farmhouse. It wouldn't work very well with the windows and stone lintels. You need stone pillars/columns for the porch and then lose the trellis. Google images of Georgian houses for inspiration. Facia of garage should match the porch....See MoreCurb appeal
Comments (5)To avoid detracting from the front I would put low planters either side of the front door painted in the same colour as the house or white. Then plant them up with low growing plants some daffodils for the spring, lavender maybe for the rest of the year. Would be good to have a taller plant either side of the front door to stop the space looking flat however What I would do however is to ignore the fact it might detract and put some wisteria on the front as a natural arbour and a few containers in he front with roses in! Comments (21)As far as the driveway is concerned you appear to have a sound concrete surface there already. If you can find a good local contractor who is properly trained in Resin Bonded Gravel then you could give you price to change the finish your driveway without digging it up at all. That would avoid a lot of cost and wastage so it is likely to be cost effective. The edging and any areas which are not would need to be considered carefully. A contractor may want to drill out core samples to check the thickness of the drive but it has been used for some time and not cracked then it should be fine. Resin Bonded Gravel is stuck onto the existing surface which will need to be clean and dry at the time. Check that any contractor has been trained and is properly insured....See MoreKerb appeal ideas please
Comments (14)thank you tez, I like the porch idea, the entrance would be to the side of the house and if I could afford and permitable I would do a side extension but it's an overkill as the space is enough currently, maybe a small porch style roof over the entry way, I have saved examples of these. I've never thought of using a gate, wouldnt it be a hassle to open and close the gate when parking? but it's a good security feature specially around kids. we need to consider postman too. the side space is being considered for parking as the house entrance is there. and having hedging or planting at the front...See Moreorlac2
