I am loving this thread as I have pretty much the same issue. We've selected our grey upholstered bed, so now I need a swatch to scout around curtain, paint and carpet shops. Keeping in mind that we have a huge bay window (let's in light 24hours a day!), fitted mirror wardrobes along the long wall opposite the bed wall, and a dado rail at about 3 feet from the skirting... Curtains - we need something that can look both ethereal and keep the pesky light out... Was thinking pale grey, pale duck egg, or a slightly pink grey... Paint - light grey with pink undertones? Should it be darker below the dado? Should I go dark everywhere? What colour dado / skirting? Am not averse to dark grey skirting.... Carpet - well, something to go with the above. Was thinking a mid-grey, between the dark bed and what might be a lighter wall. Sorry to hijack thread, but it's the same dilemma!

Make the blinds disappear by painting the window wall the same red. Otherwise they will look a bit 'bitty'. You can also pick up the red with assessories and introduce other colours also with artwork. I think lots of cream or natural linen. IKEA do a lovely striped sofa which has a thin red stripes which would give it a French country feel. Sorry I don't like the brown leather sofa and after reading how leather is mass produced I am now having problems with any leather sofas :(

I think anything in the warm neutrals/greys/pinks would work nicely here. Have suggested some options from a company from Benuta since they have a sale on at the moment and are generally well priced anyway! Hi there, As others suggest, what about mustard? This picture shows blue walls and a pop of yellow for the chair and it really makes the room sing. Alternatively, why not run with your idea of a soft grey? This picture pulls together lots of colours you've already got going on - the red in your sofa will work well. You could always layer Roman blinds and curtains together as pictured to soften the overall effect. Best of luck with your project, Zoe
