kitchen that looks good with wooden floors

Am renovating my kitchen and want a relatively sleek, minimalist feel.
I have a 1930s art deco apartment that has polished wooden floorboards and am struggling to come up with an appropriate colour scheme

Stephen, I think white or stone with dark grey look good with lighter colour wooden floors.

You need a warm or neutral colour with the Stripped Floor as it has warm tones. You can only get away with Grey if it's a warm grey, as grey is usually a cool colour. The art deco period had some lovely greens, and green works so well with wood. Maybe look for a green that you like ( Wren have a good range ) and combine it with round ended units as Art deco was all about the curved furniture!

I love clean lines, and I'm having terrible trouble finding a kitchen that will sit well with our layout. We live in an 1850 cottage, the back of the house is open plan, the snug has antique sofas, an old dresser, an old sideboard and a victorian windout table. What do you put with that?? It needs to have a touch of 'old traditional' with the flare of new and clean. Torn between two worlds! Sorry about the mess, wasn't expecting visitors !

Hello Charlie_bill, There are many and I would suggest Reeve but.. They don't sell to the public so you would need someone to procure it for you.. They do beautiful colours and at the very least you could look at their site which might be helpful to you in making a choice.. :))

We are also very much biased, and would also be in the wood camp for all the reasons already mentioned.. If you do go that way, ask your fitter to install a matwell by the front door for an entrance mat - this will help remove the grit and dirt and limit the potential for scratching your new floor. good luck with the project - Cambium Floors

My kitchen has graphite grey units with a medium oak floor. These units are Shaker style, but I've seen high gloss units in similar colours. I love the combination and I always get lots of compliments, which is a bonus. Sorry I'm not a great photographer.

Hi Steve. With a warm floor wood floor so many things go well. I think cool colours work really well with a wood floor so graphite would be great. I am planning a kitchen for our new house soon and I want flush wooden cupboards which seem hard to find. I am going to get a joiner to make one for us. Have attached this photo as it caught my eye - not necessarily the colour scheme but the look.
