Tall wall cabinets or additional countertop for kitchen
Comments (13)I think Minnie's right, you have 1m of prep space and that includes any space you want for a drainer for the sink. I think you need the extra space at the back, not maybe for the prep, which you could do in the 1m between hob and sink, but for the kettle, toaster, coffee maker maybe, preparing drinks etc. The space is very tight and I think the storage is quite limited. I put the Fridge Freezer in the big grey cabinet, so you could see the difference between it and the rest of the units as it juts out. This i think can be improved upon too:- I would integrate the Fridge Freezer as the space is small and will look a lot better with a flat profile:-...See MoreTiling round window / past countertop?
Comments (7)Thanks for everyone's comments. This is really helpful and so nice to get such constructive and thoughtful comments. This is our first major project and builders got us to first fix and my husband is doing the rest of the work himself (kitchen, bathroom installation, tiling). This forum is exactly what it's all about - design advice and solution solving from those that have been there and done it. You're right Victoria - in an ideal world we could have had a higher windowsill (we're not keen on the counter top running into the window sill) but so hard to get every measurement spot on when you're planning a kitchen when the extension is just a shell. We're getting there though and really pleased so far. Just interior design and 2 bathrooms to go!...See MoreBest oven configuration?
Comments (31)I prefer the rectangular island as in your last posting, but would move the ovens to the left, giving two full doors to the right alongside the door into the room. I fully agree with all the comments regarding accessible worktop for placement of hot items straight from the oven, you do not want the ovens directly opposite the hob. The I also think that it would look better!...See MoreSide by side ovens in floor to ceiling cupboards
Comments (11)We're so excited you have We would like to echo some of the recommendations already made - having island and counter space nearby is incredibly important, as well as a sturdy oven with racks and oven doors which can potentially withstand weight. Richard's comment regarding elbow room is also definitely one to watch out for. We'd also recommend having your hob and extractor nearby - for example, on an island opposite your built-in ovens as shown in the image below. This helps you to transfer from hob to oven and back again, and can also help deal with the smell of cooking!
