Hi, I suggest you move the mirrors up , at the level of the window because they are too low , with this you will create a hight of the room , the carpet it is a problem : 1: it keeps the dust in the house and 2: you can never have a clean room with it . I also suggest get some money put a wood floor and the radiator can be cut out , moved on the floor heating , then you can decide if you want or not to create a small place to sit at the window or the corner where your closet is a small table with a chair where you can rest and have also a make-up session . Move the curtains close to the level of the ceiling and try to find a fade coloured curtain that can create an accent in the room (just because you have a patter wall that does not mean everything in the house should have a patter as well) and i suggest a plant because it keeps the air clean even when you sleep . i can try to make you a design suggestion and see more of what i am writing you, but i will need some specific measurements of the room (height- distance from the wall to the window and to the corner and after to the door , i assume that is where the master-bedroom bath is . It all comes down to budget as always. The bigger the budge the more you can do. I would be really mindful of the fact, that if you change the facade, it would be better if you could change the windows. The wood cladding I agree would look fabulous, you could have the bottom a lovely grey to tone in. However, neither will look good with bog standard white windows, as both look better with a dark grey, thinner Aluminium Frame or a Chunkier Sandy Beige Frame. When you add white windows, the effect is not quite so slick The pic above shows the white windows with the cladding and it would look a lot better with the darker, thinner frames. If you can't afford to change or colour bond the windows, then maybe go for all over colour, a dark grey would be good, and consider changing the Front door for impact. Alternatively, work towards doing the ultimate change. The vertical wood cladding, with a grey underneath and a door to match the wood. Thinner dark pewter aluminium framed windows etc. sorry about the mock up quality!

Absolutely, I could definitely leave the sink unit alone. Are you suggesting the walls could be violet? And re buying things, I know. I get all excited and buy beautiful, dirt cheap things on a whim. I currently have two farmhouse kitchen tables ( which were both from freecycle), a red melamine-topped 60s one (£20) and am haggling over an ercol one ( super expensive at £48). I will have to start releasing them back into the wild soon. The cameos were £6 for the pair and they are adorable.

I think that small so does in the 80's and 90's were due to poor glass technology and energy requirements? Not sure about the 70's though. my Mum's 60's house has huge windows that were once aluminium framed and so how glazed. freezing until my parents double glazed it. anyway, old and grim trends: carpets in bathrooms, those Swarovski crystal animal ornaments, grey bi-fold doors, wood-look upvc windows, shiny black granite floor tiles, stripy wallpaper up to a dado rail, ornate tile borders at rail height on walls, paisley carpets.
