Need help with choosing which type/style of windows

Hi, We have a 1930s red brick house in the South East of England and the current uPVC (with lead bars in them) windows need replacing. We have decided to go again for uPVC but in white woodgrain. However, my choice would be for plain glass (without any lines of lead or with bars) in as few panels as possible to let as much light in as possible and also not to overcrowd the windows considering that we will have horizontal blinds inside. My husband thinks we should keep the led lines or add Georgian white bars inside. I need help as I don't want the new windows to destroy the look so I want to get it right... Thanks! Ari

Hi Heather, Porcelain would definitely be a good option for outdoor use as it offers a level of slip resistance that you were concerned was lacking with polished concrete. Always intrigued by how different people have such strong and mixed views on choices like this! No 2 is my personal preference - looks more modern and "integral". I find the other 2 designs look like after-thought bolt-ons and make it look like an older house that's trying to be something it is not. The middle design doesn't feel that way to me. Thomas Sanderson make very slim profile blinds that fit into the little recess of the door to the window. They drill the wires into the top and bottom, then the blid folds as they're lifted. Tey take about 1cm of space at the top when fully open. They're easy to push up and down, and everyone comments on how good they look. They let in light but provide privacy. We found shutters made our rooms far too dark. They're not cheap though! We have 9 bifold doors, and each door was around £150. Well worth it though.

We've finally made a move forward and have gone with a flush Casement Window. (anglian) Still undecided on colour and are looking at Agate Grey or cream (the anglian cream is quite dark yellow) for the windows Looking at making the door more central with a glass panel down either side. (solid composite door) sage green in colour.
