Hi Dan, the stone is blue slate, the fencing cedar and the deck and seating are yellow balau, finished with 4 coats of deck oil.

Could you please tell me what type of screws you have used on the decking. They seem to be invisible. I'm laying this wood next month. Thanks

Hmmm, I'd be tempted to paint the long wall from kitchen to lounge the green. Leave the rest of the kitchen ivory, add your favourite green pictures etc. And I'd wallpaper the long lounge wall in a green/heather pattern. You've got dark furniture and curtains so I think that heather colour would be a bit dark. Although I love it lol. My friend chose grey which sounds dull but it highlights her co-ordinates (similar to yours) really well. The grey looks lavender in the light.

Katie I think purbeck and skimming stone look ok next to each other, I have a hallway in skimming stone and a room off the hall in purbeck but I probably wouldn’t put them in the same room together. To my eye they have a different undertone. If ammonite is too blue maybe try strong white? Or paint the walls the same colour as the alcoves.

I would go with Polished Pebble. It’s softer. My friend has it teamed with a pretty yellow and green wallpaper and it looks great. I know nothing about bulbs, but I think any room is cosied up by table lamps and floor lamps and I have a lamp in each corner. A floor lamp is always great peering over a sofa. Creates a very cosy feel at night, in fact I never use the overhead light! Here’s some images, but I’m not sure of your decor style.

We used Camo deck screws No7, 48mm which are stainless steel and have a very small and inconspicuous screw head. We trailed them for the first time on this project and they are excellent. There are other brands available. The key is that they should be stainless steel otherwise they'll oxidise and react with the tannins in the wood.
